Diagnose Problem Please

I think my CV joints might be going. Upon stopping from about 15 mph to a dead stop I hear a light clunk, clunk, clunk. Not real loud but you notice when the radio is off. It doesn't do it when I turn or anything which is why I am confused as to the cause. I always thought CV joints make the noise when you turn if they are starting to fail. Has anyone else had this problem?

Jens???

Have you checked the sway bar end links?

I didn't think about the sways. I am back on my stock wheels for winter also so my 19's won't have anything to do with it. I am at 55,000 miles...figures.

Grace period? Who here has gotten warranty coverage after 50,000 miles? If so that would be great, and how much are CV joints if I'm paying? I am thinking they see the car is lowered and any hope of a grace period is over....

If the noise is in the rear it could be a broken sway bar link. If the noise is in the front and you have recently replace your trans, it could be a loose subframe bolt or nut.

CV joint usually shows symptoms during a full turn... not necessarily while going straight and breaking - probably sways - check the connection to the front cross-member!

Problem is in the front and the way the noise happens it is just like a CV joint-except it happens when slowing going straight in a repeatable fashion. The speed of the noise is in relation to the rotation of the tires. Called Acura to day and they say bring it in but it probably won't be covered under warranty unless its tranny related.
