DC Headers Please help!
DC Headers Please help!
I just got DC headers. How do you tell which one goes on the front and which one goes on the back on the engine block. I have them installed just wanna double check if they installed it wrong. I hear like a honing sound at 1500rpm and 2500rpm in park reving up and same thing when i let go of the gas on the way down. Do you think i have a leak. I have the new DC headers from Excelerate. Thanks!
Oh yeah i got used to the V2 sounds like a reactor under the hood! It sounded better without the headers at WOT wierd!

sounds like a leak then bro, when I did my headers, car sounded better all around. period.
dc headers have a badge on the front header (if I am not mistaken)
the one with the badge is on the front.
was it really hard lining it all up? if so then maybe switching would fix ur problems.
make sure the gaskets are on the right way too.....witht eh flush/smooth side facing outward, and the side where the ring overlaps is sitting in/facing the insert.
A way to check for a leak so u know for sure...is an empty hose. put it to ur ear and run the hose around all the connecting areas.

I checked my headers and they both have the dc badge of both. Its not making any nosies at idle only when i goose it past 1500 and 2500 rpm. Even when i hold it at those rpm points the hone sound is there. It sound like when your rack is going bad and when you turn the wheel it makes a hone sound. Wonder if it is the AEM V2 doing that. It wanst like that yesterday without the headers. DAMMM! I have the new headers HHC5528. Is there a certain bend i could look for to see which is for the front? They look almost the same.

it should come with instructions that tell you.
if the instructions do not mention anything then I'd have to say they are both universal. do the hose method to check for a leak, but I doubt it..
that noise your describing almost sounds like a power steering pump.
get a buddy to rev the motor at those rpms, check for the location of the sound

Take a look at the bend on the header on the left, its not a perfect Y shape like the one on the right. When i mean Y shape im talking about the left and right piping on the header. See links below for pic.

Looking a the picture on the DC website. U can see the flanges are reversed on both header(s) therefore you cannot get them mixed up. If u tried reversing the headers the flanges would not even line up. So you concern of whether they are ass backwards is cured
as for the power steering possibility:
can be either while reving or at idle.. sometimes it due to low fluid othertimes it's the pump itself. when parked, turn the wheel and see if that is the noise, then u found the culprit.
so i say either a p/s pump, exhaust leak (use the hose technique) orr you just think it's a problem and it's not.
in order^

Okay gonna check it out thanks for your help! Will keep you posted. When i installed the V2 by itself the car sounded sick. After putting the dc headers on sound is a little toned down not as loud.
no car is 100% the same.
that might just be the way the car is supposed to sound. who knos. it is what it is. makes sure u got no leaks and that's all that can be done really
