Damn RX7s
I was driving down a fairly straight 2 lane rd. (Highway 121 for you Dallas peeps) when I notice some guy in a yellow 2000-2001 (don't know what year it was, but it was a fairly new one) RX7 with a coffee can exahust. We play cat and mouse for a while when finally we get to some open road. I gun it in our sweet spot (50ish while in 2nd)... I blow, his ass off...I couldn't tell if he was with the high speed action or not so I let off the gas at about 80ish, before I know it, he blows past me while I was laying off the gas slowing down. By the time I realized he was serious, I tried to hit it, but to no avail, I was already in 4th trying to get SS to get to 3rd... and we all know how 3rd sucks ass from about 80. We come up on a red light, I roll down my window to chat with the guy but he was being an ass and had his windows rolled up. I figured he was ready to go. I hit the brakes and kept her steady at 3000 RPM. Light turns green and I burn off. He rolls off slowly from the light apparently not looking for any action. What a fucker, he does a ricer fly by, and then doesn't want any action from a stand still.......I'm just gald I made it home without a DUI.

This isn't the one I raced, but the back looked like this...
What year is it?

Race an rx7? sure kid.
Hey I have to tell you, I think you may have wanted to race an rx7 but highly doubt you actually did. Not to be disrespectful, but a twin turbo rx7 will soundly take most acuras. They are in a completely different league. These cars are designed to compete against nsx's and they do just fine.
The rx7 chassis and body are built for speed. Their whole design and weight distribution was created for high speed performance.
I used to own one and believe you me, there were many a day that the average joe porsche, bmw, and benz driver got smoked on any given day. Combine that with mods and the rx7 becomes a ferrari killer. Thats right, the ultra high end sport cars. The rx7 executes turbos at two times during a duration. Once at 35-45 miles per and the second at about 80-100 depending on your compression ratio on the engine. Basically what that means is that if you try and race one and you actually beat it off the line, be aware that you better not take your foot off the gas or the second turbo will leave you in the dust. They are amazing machines and if I could afford another I would do it.
For now, I am happy as a normal driver in my acura cl. It is a great dependable car.
thanks
Ken

Yeah, we never got off from a good start and actually raced. Every time I hit the gas, he wouldn't do anything. Then when he hit the gas, I was slowing down. We just kinda kept missing each other and never got off to a good start. But I know for a fact he would have ripped me a new asshole.
I'm not saying I beat him, but I was ahead at times for reasons other than my car is faster than his. If that makes any sense.

The RX-7 and Supra are monsters. The reason he probably zoomed past you so fast is the same reason you zoom past a Civic... he tries and tries to get you to play, and finally you get tired and just kill him once. He showed you what he could do, and left it at that. He shouldn't of been a dick at the light, though.
The RX-8 should be decent, but I doubt it will compare to the RX-7... the 8 looks too big. But, those rear doors look interesting.
