Damn Contour SVTs are fast!!

But not fast enough. I was just accelerating normal-like on an 8-lane road in Orlando when he decides to race, and gets a car length on me. He's got the Contour dropped, and had what looked like 16's or 17's (chrome of course. GAG!) on it and a body kit. Don't forget the fuzzy dice from the windshield... or maybe that was just my imagination.

Anyway - so I see him look back, and I couldn't resist. There was hardly any traffic, I felt like being stupid, immature, and having a bit of fun.

I went to SS and hit second and pulled 1-2 cars on him by 80. Unfortunately I had to turn, so I didn't get to see his face.

Come on, what do they have like 170 stock with 3000 lbs? That's 17.65 lbs/hp whereas we are 13.5. Of course I was going to beat him!

Stupid kids.

The SVT's have 200hp (I think, maybe only 195). They are several hundred lbs lighter and are pretty quick. The 0-60 numbers I've seen for them have ranged from 6.9-7.2 - just a few ticks off a CL-S. I've never raced one, but they are no slouch in terms of acceleration.

Aah - article I read was about the '98 Contour SVT. Must have been outdated info.

Maybe it wasn't an SVT... at least I hope that an SVT owner wouldn't even think about putting chrome wheels on there!

Some of the instructormobiles at Bondurant are modified Contour SVTs. I thought they were more fun than the Mustangs or the Cobra Crown Vics. The modified Taurus SHO's were the worst.

Where were you? I think I saw that guy weaving in and out of traffic last week. It was on University going towards UCF. I was being good that day and didn't try to mess with him.

I was on 436 near 434 - but he looked college-aged.

He was probably looking for someone he could beat.

I used to have a Contour SE V6 with a 5 speed. It was a pretty nice car but the torque steer was terrible. Some people get Quaife LSDs put in. Anyway, Vortech make a supercharger for the V6.

The supercharger increases the stock horsepower to 294 and torque to 218 at the flywheel, using between 8-8.5 psi of boost. It includes fuel pump and lines, FMU, bypass valve, supercharger specific computer chip, belts, and pulleys. Battery relocation is required for complete system installation. Known to produce 250hp at the wheels.
