49 HP is the best gain from the SC.... I'm not all that impressed by that.. not for $4,500.
I would be curious to see what the SC can do with smaller pullies, then it MAY ALMOST be worth looking into...
can't wait to see a Type S dyno

Also, there is a typo for the torque section where it shows the difference at 5800 rpm to be 62.6 when in reality if you do the math correctly should be 36.2 (190.3-154.1).

As for city driving...you are making an additional 18-30 lbs. of torque and 10-30 whp from 3-4K....which is your passing band....this is over headers and exhaust...I wasn't too impressed at first, but if you bother to look at that dyno it makes more torque at 3000 rpms than it does with headers and exhaust at peak torque.

Then compare the ratio of the prices of each (SC package vs headers/intake/exhaust) and you'll probably realize the overall costs are fairly on target with the amount of power you're getting.

I'm not trying to argue here, but it CLEARLY states on the Dyno chart the Peak HP before S/C is 172, peak HP after S/C is 221, = an increase of 49 HP.... I think you're including the gain from the headers and exhaust into you calc..., that's all...
I do agree that it produces pretty nice gains across the full RPM Band

I'd say it's pretty fairly priced for what you get, although still a little steep. But if you bought Comptech headers, you can't complain - those things are at least as overpriced for what you get as this SC is. :P

for all you people that are complainig about the price of the supercharger..... dont!
just think what a simple pulley mod will do for your powerband.

There is already one Company which is an authorized CompTech dealer that is taking pre-orders for $3,900. CompTech suggests a 6 install time which means you are looking at somewhere b/w 6 x $60 ($360) to 6 x $80 ($480) for install costs.
That means WITH installation you could come in under $4,500.
Problem is you still need a transmission cooler ($50 plus $60 to install) and a smaller battery ($40-$50).
So you total grand damage would be about $4,700.
You guys will get MUCH better low end gains than the Accord.
Our cars are restricted to a SINGLE intake valve below 3,500 rpms where as you guys get full use of BOTH valves below your VTEC switchover. We currently have a member that is in the process of swapping out the CL-S camshafts in his Accord. In additionto the two camshafts we also have to purchase a CL-S cam gear.

I can't imagine 01's are going for that much $$$ now? More power to him if he can pull it off though.. it will certainly be one of the fastest Accords out there!!!

Easier? Well I don't mod cars because its easy, some of us like a challenge and we enjoy it as a hobby.
Just ask Scalbert about his prototype RES and how "easy" that was.

BTW, there is about an overall, area power gain of about 15.7%. That is significant and would be very noticeable. In other words, the car would accelerate harder at 4k revs with the SC than it could have ever without it.
A pulley swap on our CR might not be a viable option for most purchasing the blower. You would need to monitor knock and adjust a 4:1 rising rate regulator to compensate. We might get away with 6 PSI provided you can get the A/F in the 12:1 range.

I'm not sure about your CL but my CL only has one camshaft.

Just to be a jerk:
Stock A6 2.7T
HP LBS
250 258
Chip only
GIAC X-Chip
HP LBS
330 370
Cost: $595
Just had to do that.
Seriously, That would a nice touch to the Acura CL-S. I wonder if you have to beef up the tranny any? For that $4995 does it come with a type of Warranty ala Dinan??? If not could you purchase one thru Comptech? Wonder how many people would pay $7000 to include a warranty by Comptech??

The Stock chip is .7bar 10.152psi
Giac chip is 1.0 bar 14.503psi
GIAC X-chip is 1.2 bar(actually 1.15bar) 16.678psi
The X-chip spikes sometimes when its hot to 1.35 for a brief millisecond then returns to normal.
It remaps and changes values . You can look on the GIAC. site
WWW.giacusa.com or .org I forgot.

Yes, for both the S4 and the A6 2.7T model. 6 speed and Tiptronics
There is a chip from AMS that limits the lb to 300lb(still 310hp) for the Tip cars to help with the tranny limits.
The A6 4.2 also has a GIAC ECU and Tip computer upgrade. THe improvements are less but still OK. ECU chip maybe 10-15hp.
The GIAC Tip Tranny Chip actually speeds up the shifts on the automatic, making it a little more responsive and improves times.
