CT Headers Horsepower
I've read on the CT site that headers for the CL will add max of 32 HP. Wheel horsepower right? What is the equivalent engine HP gain if you just took a guess? Also, will CT headers change the sound of my car? I do not want to add any noise.
Should I get the icebox too? Will I get a noticeable gain in 0-60 acceleration from these mods?
Thanks

yeah it will change the noise in your car, but its a good change so it will sound alot better...and your will see a significant gain...I currently have jst the icebox and my headers should be in sometime next week...the icebox gives your car a little hiss noise, but when you hit redline it sounds really good...but the headers a re diffinately worth it...I suggest getting the comptech exhausts too...maybe the bpipe also...if you like the sound of it...but they actually just enhance the sound and every1 i've talked to on the forum loves the sound so trust me you wont be doing the wrong thing...you will be satisfied...

The equivalent crank HP is about 43 hp on an auto. The CT headers don't change sound that much at all. The Icebox will add just a little more noise at VTEC, but not as loud as an AEM CAI. Both are good additions, you'll like them both.

Thanks for the replies
I was interested in crank hp so I would have something to compare to since I'm not used to looking at whp. I have a 2001 auto type s and am probably going to get headers to increase the hp and enjoyment and keep the car for a while instead of buying a new one.

I think the point of the previous post was that crank HP means very little. You can't reliably add, say, 25% drivetrain loss for an auto, to the 30whp headers to get a 260 stock crank+ 30*1.25 to get your actual crank hp. It just doesn't work that way. Just get used to looking at whp - that, and exactly how much and where in the rpm range you get the gains.

Wheel horsepower is the horsepower you actually put to the wheels after it transfers from the crank through the drivetrain to your wheels. That is the hp you need to pay attention to b/c that is what your actually putting to the ground. The stock Acura CL-S Auto makes 195 whp. With headers and intake it puts out about 230 whp.

Crank hp might be nice for bragging rights to the uninformed, but most people who know what they're talking about will be interested in whp.

(UR Crank pulley, Exhaust, and a tuned Unichip should put you at about 230whp maybe even more if the Unichip is tuned well).

I was around 227whp before the UR pulleys. I probably picked that up to 235 with the pulleys, although we will never now.
Oh and I make 400 hp now for bragging rights :P

That's why I wish we had some good options for tranny mods . . . but they'd be a waste on these POS trannies.

The estimated drivetrain loss on the J32A2 with an automatic transmission is roughly around 25%. It's simple algebra from there to figure out FWHP from HP at the crank and vice versa.
If you're going to get headers, you might as well get an intake, too. No point in helping the engine breathe out better if you're not going to make it breathe in better, too.
Stock exhaust is already quite efficient. Don't change it and spend money unless you want the sound and the minimal gains.... or if you have a lot of money to burn.
Once the pulleys are on (probably in January now, since the car is in the shop due to an accident, and the pulleys are coming sometime this week! ), I'm going to get the V-AFC II dyno-tuned. I'll have the Magnaflow catback by then, too. I/H/E/P/V-AFC II, I'm hoping to see about 240 fwhp, or 320 hp at the crank roughly.
