Crankcase overfill

I recently had my oil changed at an Acura dealer in St. Louis, they overfilled the engine oil by 3.5 quarts. Drove it 541 miles before I identified the problem and had it dropped and refilled at the correct level.
What if any problems can I expect? No valve cover leaks yet.

From my own experience:
- spark plugs fouled out, dark and covered with oil when I extracted them
- hard starting problem, caused by fouled out spark plugs
- oil inside the spark plug chambers
- oil inside the intake and throttle body, caused by oil blow-bys entering the combustion chambers, into the PCV path, then into the intake path.

dealer overfilled oil by 3.5qt, that's unheard of!!!

It not tooo bad, as opposed to under filling by 3.5 quarts. You caught it in time. It just maybe mess up ur plugs, and maybe ur seals are weaken. but damn 3.5 quarts extra that is crazy.

The dealer thinks it was double fill and 1 qt. was expelled somehow. A bummer experience. No plug problems yet and no change in the mileage

Get this documented. I would call the regional rep. and get it in writing that if anything happens to the engine due to this fuck up, Acura pays.

I'd be pissed as hell, too.

You should have taken it back to the dealership. That much extra oil may have caused all the seals to start leaking. This should be covered by the warranty though.

The oil change was in St. Louis while stopping over during a trip. 541 miles later I had it filled properly in Tulsa. It is well documented. No apparent damage yet. Still got our normal trip MPG of 30.7

i would call the and write to the regional rep... so when you need the lawyer.

Some overfill is not too uncommon.. check your dipstick after oil change... make the dealer do it over.
