...so I know the cops are around in the residential areas these days, 30mph. V1 goes off on a target car ahead, so I slow down. When it's my turn to get a full dose of instant-on, I get a full K-band alert but no cop in sight at this point.

Seconds later, I see OPP behind a row of hedges that obsures the front end of the patrol car at a distance. He was parked right up close so he can see you through the bushes but you can't see him till it's too late. When I was right up on him, he was already lowering the radar gun back onto the seat waiting for the next victim.

Now I know small trees and foliage generally do not interfere with the proper operation of traffic radar. But this is ridiculous.

actually, it also stand for Ontario Provincial Police. I used to spend a fair amount of time in Canada and thought it was really funny seeing that on police cars. This was around the time when that song was out. :-)

Every now and then someone will mention to me that they think using a radar detector is somehow immoral or unethical. I always tell them a story like this one. When the cops can be this sneaky I sure don't feel bad about using a detector.

 

Well said!! I couldn't agree more.Catching speeders with radar is the easy way out for cops to kill a day.Too bad they don't make detectors for catching real criminals.Just my .02 .
