Coolant question

Can I use dex-cool in my cl-s? I think $25 a gallon for honda coolant is a little much. If not dexcool is there another non honda fluid I can use?

I used Zerex's Dex-cool 5 yr 260,000km Antifreeze for $16/GAL, so far so good, the only potential problems I have heard is that you need to make sure it stays topped up.

I am not sure why you would have to be topping off because of using Zerex. This is a closed system. If you are topping off coolant fluids in you radiator you most likely have some sort of a leak. I know that you have evaporation but that would be from your overflow bottle only. And if that is the case then any brand of fluid would need to be top off regardless of Honda, Preston or Peak. Just make sure it phosphate and silicate free.
