coolant flush @ what mileage??

when i went in for an oil change yesterday the tech told me i will need a coolant flush and that most people do it @ 30k, you guys think its too early with 36k miles on my car. the dealer charges $95, how does that compare to your dealer?

You can always do it yourself. The process is relatively easy. Most people flush coolant at 30K. My other car is every 40K.

I do it based on time, every two years, not mileage. Usually runs about $50.00 at the local Acurs dealer.

i have 13K.. but the car is 2+ years old.. so it will be getting changed when I install the intercooler...since I bought a case of honda pre-mix...

D, you know they make coolant testers.. relatively cheap... .. open up the rad cap (when the car is NOT HOT) and dip the tester in... read the chart and see if you coolant gets or

okay pumkin?

My manual says 3 yrs or 45,000 miles for coolant. It also says 3 years or 45,000 miles on the brake fluid. I think each cost about $50.00 at Acura of Memphis who has a good service department btw. .

I forgot if you have had a trans swap they also change the coolant at that time. since they have to drain it. So you get a freebee.

I thought coolent would last WAY longer than what you guys are saying...pretty much 100k+. Because of the quality of coolent and the aluminum radiators - it is very hard for rust or other build up to occur in modern radiators, and that is what you are trying to avoid when you flush your radiator

but with that being said, it is very easy to do it yourself - I dont understand why people go to the dealers for such easy maintenance like this or getting your oil changed?

the coolant I bought from Acura said "60K miles/6 years"
So I think if you get the latest coolant you can keep it for 60K miles.

I called my dealer and they confirmed that when the tranny is replaced, the coolant is changed as well, so that's good to know! Free coolant change :-)
