considering 03 cl, couple of questions

hey all,
I am currently looking at a 03 CL auto w/ 87K. it seems to be in a good condition. I just wanted get some answers before I go through w/ the purchase.
1) I know there is an issue w/ the auto tranny but I figure this is common theme for hondas in general (I drive a 99 V6 accord on 2nd tranny), how much is it usually for a new tranny? and did any one notice any trends to how long they last? (say for a daily driver w/ mostly highways driving)
2) how is the mainenance cost? is it higher since the car is discontinued? are the parts hard to come by or are they available through non-oem (auto zone etc.)
3) how would you compare it to a 03 nissan altima? (another car I'm looking at)
thanks in advance...

The CL is more of a premium car than the Altima with nicer materials inside, greater power, better handling, and of course 2 fewer doors. Servicing the CL is not higher because its discontinued... Honda uses pretty much the same stuff on all of their cars and the CL is Accord-based.

the CLS will pretty much walk a CL without too much effort and the only MAJOR problem is the auto trans

Do you have any problems with driving a manual?

I would highly recommend buying a CL-s with a 6-spd in it, I know manual is not for everyone, but they don't have any known issues.

Ed3013,
Acura may goodwill a replacement if the car has under 109K or so above that you might have to pay something. if you gotta pay for it all, kiss 5 GRAND goodbye...........
