Comptech vs AEM headers??

I have been trying to search for some comparisons between these two other than price and material. I only came across one thread that claimed the Comptech headers give substantially more HP gain than others.

I have been trying to find more information on this that either confirms or regects this claim....any help on this pls??

you might get flamed for not searching the faq and other threads, but the big difference is that comptech actually makes a set that FITS the 03 6 speeds. there was also something i remember about the aem headers using a 2 bolt pattern. if its an issue of money to HP ratio, then my guess would be aem but if your going to go cheap just get the cheapo 100 dollar one that people get from ss autochrome. best way to check who makes the most hp is buy them both and dyno them. lol.

All the headers made for the CL give you about realitavely the same HP...The difference with Comptech is that they are CARB approved.

wait sorry, you asked about HP #'s and my response there told you nothing and probably pissed you off. lol. even for my CL-P the pull increased dramatically for 3rd and 4th, second is amazing and makes people rethink that "luxury accord". Comptech says 32HP @ wheels for Type-S (18 for CL-P). Green machine, 1 of the acurazine gods (lol), says others make similiar HP, but you can see the quality of the Comptech headers from about (not an exact #, but...) well like 30 miles away! lol. I like to go with quality...especially b/c i one day plan on getting a Type-S and then putting the headers on there, but thats another story...

The true difference with Comptech headers is they haven't had a single design or manufacturing flaw in 4 years. There was a slight problem when the headers were first introduced and it was promptly corrected.

No resonance, droaning, cracking welds, warped flanges, bent flex section, misplaced O2 sensor bungs, and excellent customer service to back up their product.

You get what you pay for. Going with any brand other than Comptech is taking a gamble on what you'll end up with. Plain and simple.

Also, the AEM headers will not fit the 6-speed CL

Thanks for the information guys...I really appreciate it. I don't know why I would get flammed since I clearly stated that I searched first and found one thread that I needed furhter coroberation with.

I really just wanted to know if that $1200 price tag on the CT headers was justified. I would have been willing to pay double the AEM price just to get stainless steel since ceramic coated ones are crap IMHO. I had them on my civic way back when and they started rusting really badly around the flages. Very very ugly...even worse than stock!!

I'd wait and look for a set of used headers. They sell for between $600-750.

The DC side of them, since they own them.

The gains are all similar as stated. Comptech is the cream of the crop and IMO DC is next. AEM owns DC Sports.

PM me if you need either set.

That would work for me...mine is an auto unfortunately but I still love it to death. Only has 70 000 Km on it so I havn't reached the point of bitching about my tranny.

Since I am a noob when it comes to bolt on aftermarket stuff, where would one look exactly to find a used set of CT headers. I really have my mind set on them mainly because they are stainless and NOT that shite ceramic coated POS.
