Comptech Springs just installed mix reviews.

Now don’t get me wrong the ride is great. Almost as close as stock. Now this is what's getting me, I don’t think they drop the car low enough. I was hopping for a little more. The drop is very minimal. I wonder if they will settle a little more for even a lower drop. Do you think they will?

I planned on getting the Comptect Springs too. From what I've read, they take a couple of months to settle.

I just wonder how much lower. The guy at the shop said only about an 8th of an inch.

They do settle a bit.

I spoke to Jens H. after my install, because I had similar issues. I was concerned because the left side and right side (in back) didn't look even. He pointed out that the 'look' of the spring height is really sensitive to the surface you park your car on. I then checked things out and note that my driveway is not perfectly level. Sure enough, if I park my car in a level lot, the car looks great.

Give it a month, and make sure you evaluate your car on a perfect, or near perfect level surface.

Hmm, since when has fingers become a unit of measure. I'm sure the engineers on this board are going to have a feild day!

I'm waiting for an install of my CT Springs and glad to hear they'll be down to two fingers. I just hope we all have the same finger size.

I have thin gauge metric fingers so is this convertable to standard thick fingers?/??
Sorry I had to go there LOL
Yes the springs and to a greater extent the bushings the suspension rides on do settle a bit .The amount varies from car to car and the reasons are simple .The suspension is assembled on the lift with the suspension bits fully extended .So when the car is put on the ground all of the bushings need to get used to a lower ride height .This takes a bit of time depending on the new ness of the cars .The springs do not sag as much as people suspect if they did it would be a very bad thing as this in my eyes would be a incorrectly heat treated spring that refuses to maintain a given length.Over a very long time all springs will sag out but we are talking many years not a few months .

My Comptechs had to settle as well. It took about a week for them to mostly settle, but then they got even a lower after another two or three weeks.

well, it all depends....u cant reallly measure that way...some people have FAT fingers, and thus, make the gap appear smaller, vice versa...lol

Does this mean we should wait to get the alignment done for a couple of months?

But if it settles another 1/8" by two months, isn't your alignment going to be off then?

Since I am getting married soon, and I was engaged when I got mt CT drop I told the truth (???) that she probably wouldn't notice the drop after I had it done. We drove past my car on the way to "visitor" parking a the dealership where I got springs and sways and she exclaimed "that is your car...I noticed and you said I wouldn't". I think the drop is perfect. People that know and have the car (Bulldog?) want to drop theirs. People DON'T notice the drop but they do notice the car now that it IS dropped...if that makes sense. If you want to blend then don't get ANY drop. If you don't want to worry about anything then go CT. By anything I mean spped bumps or driveways...the CT drop will be okay (for me). Tiens will mean extra work in some situations.

All I can say is that I had both the CT springs and sways done at the same time and it is a WHOLE new car. To be honest, my 98 Prelude handled better stock but I'd rather be in my CLS now.

Stock vs. CT...ride WILL be more rough <obviously> but you get a lot in return. Try it out on OFF RAMPS.

My Dad has a LeSabre and it needs people to lean to get around corners. The CL stock is a good car. Modded it rocks. Maybe next year I'll think about the CT Supercharger...isn't the idea great when you don't spin your tires leaving a parking space?

if anybody spent any time looking back thru the threads on this subject, it would become obvious that the Comptech Springs do not drop each/every car the exact same amount. there was even a pic or two of a side-by-side comparo of some members who both had Comptech drops and one car was noticeable lower than the other. there was also somebody within the past few months who just had the Comptechs installed and there was still a noticeable gap in the front, which was credited to the incline of his driveway (yeah, right!). my front dropped a measurable 1 3/4" after installing the front springs only ... still waiting on Jens to determine if the Neuspeed/Koni's with their multi-perch positioning will allow me to install the rear Comptech springs to complete the set-up and eliminate the reverse rack that my system had imposed on the stock suspension.

You can also get an alignment done at a place that gives you coverage for a couple years. I had mine done at Tire Kingdom and for about $120 you can get your car realigned as often as you like for 3 years.
