Comptech Springs...

How much, on the average, did you guys pay for your comptech springs installed and everything? My dealer wants to charge me for 6 hours of labor, and the $299 + shipping for everything...they said it would be around $700 installed. They were even giving me a hundred dollars off the install...it was $460 and they made it $360. If you guys have any hook ups or info on where to get them at a good price, preferably in the Los Angeles area, let me know. Those of you who dont know where to go to get a deal, still let me know how much you paid? Thanx a lot for the info.

A local Indipendent Aucra Shop Quoted me $300 fro the installation of comptech sways and springs. Comptech Parts are $635 delivered. Total would be $935.

Reasonable IMHO.

I got springs w/install, alignment, and tire rotation for $380. But you should be able to get it installed w/alignment for about $160-$200.

JSuppi - If Shane is coming from LA, it's like a 9 to 10 hr drive. I asked them and they charge $80/hr x 3hrs = $240 for labor.

What is the difference between Acura install and otherwise? Other than cost, is there a warranty issue, the possibility that it may or may not be done correctly or effectively?

I know it's not rocket-science but at this point, I don't trust my car to [local] shops. I don't know anyone's reputation here in this State.

Yeah, Comptech is based like an hour away from San Francisco, so that wouldnt be the most ideal thing for me to do...it was worth a try though. I really want to get the springs, but $700 seems very steep for just springs. Maybe it would be good for both springs and sways, but it is only the springs. How much did you guys pay TOTAL for both install and springs? If anyone has a hook up based somewhere around Los Angeles that would be great.... Thanx for the input.

I paid $360 for the install of both springs and sways. That's with tax, but not including the alignment. A little high, but it's from a local independant shop that I trust and have been going to for 4 years.

Not sure if pv22clif is referring to my install but maybe he is because we both bought cars (I think) at Park Avenue Acura in NJ. If so he's slightly mistaken because it was $296 for spring install and another $74 for installing sways. At the time (around Christmas) the wheel alignment was part of the deal. No extra charge. So total is $370 from an Acura dealer. I'm happy it was the dealer because they (Jens) know my car better than I do and I'll assume they know all Acura's a bit better than most shops. Using the dealer is cool also because I got a loaner during the install and I don't know of many speed shops who will supply a loaner if you can't wait the hours it takes?

paid $320 total for springs and shipping. went to local speed shop in SF and had them install for $80. will get alignment after the car settles a bit.

why are so many places charging for 3 hrs of labor. is it cuz one person does all the work? speed shop i went to did the whole thing in 1.5 hrs, but two guys were working on it.

al uminum, i was looking at my friends bill and im pretty sure the bill is close to the same as yours. It is stated that 4 hrs labor to install all springs and sways which total $296. Then there was another line for $49.95 for the alignment. I would be shocked if it is was different on yours. Look at it and let me know.
