Today when driving my car, it sounded different. I knew it sounded like air so I opened the hood and checked the intake. I immediately noticed the hose/pipe going from the icebox to the engine was loose. I can't remember if there was a clamp or ring or something holding it or if it just broke?

Has this happened to anyone? What do you guys think I should do?

 

um yeah, there should be one of those metal bracket tightners on there I think...Ill go check on mine real quick

mmm well i just checked it out and to me it looks like yours broke somehow. that black piece that goes right "into" the box should be attached to the airfilter 'holder' by glue or some other bonding material like that? cuz i definitely dont have a steel bracket on it.

 

thanks a lot for checking. that's what i thought and was afraid of. i didn't think there was a clamp or ring b/c the plastic is hard and the clamp would have to have been really, really tight to squeeze it.

get some silicone and have it set overnight? should create a tight seal...ive really never thought a CT Icebox would break

 

Put your stock box back in and drop in a k+n for 50 bucks and call it a day.holy crap can you say lack of maintence. clean up your act.that looks like a junk yard pic,for real.

silicone?!?! no, silicone is a sealant not an adhesive. plus once you use silicone on there you will never get anything else to bond to it.
purchase some 3m plastic epoxy. that piece will never fall off again.

While we're on the topic, has CT changed the lid of the Icebox? For some reason mine doesnt say Comptech on it.

I wouldn't be surprised if PVC glue worked to connect those pieces together. You can get it at Home Depot in the sprinkler area.

 

CT didnt change the lid of their icebox. they took the name off of the new versions because they are now "CT engineering" and not "comptech" due to new management and being purchase

Hey asshole, if I wanted a stock airbox w/ a K&N I would've done that in the first place. Second, my car is dirty b/c I just drove through the winter and it has been raining here lately. Third, go learn how to spell maintenance. Fourth, go kill yourself

 

I'm going to check out some epoxy and PVC glue and try to fix it. Hopefully it will hold
