are the COMPTECH HEADERS really worth the money ???
I just got my cl type-s navi about a month ago, i don't get my license untill MARCH because of a license suspension, but n e wayz, I'm hookin it up, ad was wondering. ARE THE COMPTECH HEADERS WORTH $1050 (ofer i got) ???? Do you really feel the estimated 30 hp gain??? I drive mycar around the block few times like onc a week, and already had to refill the tank!!! Am i going to be spending a lot more on gas with the headers???
PLAN TO HAVE THIS BY NEXT MONH:
- Axis Hagen or Giovanna Corsica 18" chrome
-AEM CAI w/ bypass valve
-Comptech headers ??????
I got a few g's saved up, a want a bodykit, but not that CL RALLY CAR bullshit i saw at jtautostyle website !!! I'm even considering getting those new Ace Alloy Manta rims in 18's b/c they're lightweight, and the CL is so heavy, (instead of the chrome, but i'm afraid of putin a dent n them, can't make it throuh manhattan wit those!!! but ilive in NJ,and it seems everyone wants to race! I'm confused as hell !)

i am not sure if it is worth.it depends on yourself.but i will not buy it as i am pretty happy and satisfy of my stock header. $1050 for the parts and maybe another 100~150 for the labor for just 30 HP extra.which u only gain at very high rpm..i am happy about 260 HP..i will want to spend money on my jeep header which is about $400 and another $200 for the labor...
still saving money to buy one
besides there are some people in the forum want to sell their comptech headers.u can ask them why they want to sell...
or u can maybe buy from them at a fair price as i think used headers are good as new..

Is that 1050 including install?
I’m trying to determine the answer to this very same question if they’re worth it.
I think the gains will be more noticeable on the 6-Speed though because you will be able to control the RPM’s easier.
The best I found so far is about 1300 installed.

I am waiting for the competetion:
Gredddy Headers are in the makings and Warpseed are also rumored to be in the making too...
Even if both do not match Comptech's Performance, I am sure that the competition would force Comptech to lower their price a bit.
My sweet price spot is $750 so installed should be $1000.
Also RES whenever is out could be a Hot Seller and a major power maker.. $300 is better than $1000

I was debating the purchase of the CT headers myself.. and then I asked myself how often I would see the performance gains from this $1000+ item. The answer was very very rarely. In my normal daily driving, I make into vtec maybe once a day (lots of traffic on the commute).
I mean really... how often do you linger in the 5000k+ rpm range? This is the only time you'll be benefiting from the headers.

Yea, they're probably not really worth the money, i think i would be better of with a v tec controller for now, i could set it to kick in like at 3000 rpm and be straight, and i'll save 600$, i can get thafor 400$ installed.... The headrs would run me 1050$, and like 100$ to get it installed rom this guy i know (unlicensed mechanic)
If you can afford...
If you can afford them get them. If you can't don't. I drove a CL-S with the headers and exhaust for about a week and it is a MORE THAN NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE!!!! I enjoyed myself thoroughly. However, I can't throw that much money into my ride right now. I have done everything else I can do except the headers and sways. If I run into a cool G or find someone selling some headers dirt cheap ($500) I will get them for sure!

It had the comptech exhaust. Don't worry about the exhaust, unless you want a different a look and a deep growl. They don't provide to much performance wise.
The conversion will let you watch any video source that has RCA outputs, so yes PS2 will work. The first thing you have to do is find a pioneer AVC-RGB1 (very hard to find) if you can find one then, worry about the rest. Look at the acura-tl forum under their audio/video section and read up on it.

if u can afford them gettem...notice how many bullshit guys on this sight got everything from polargs to cai but can get the headers....its all bout the dolllas.....i got em and i am happy with them....put the chicken wire, high temp paint and silicon away and get em.
Onw more question for those who say get them if you can afford them....
How much saved moeny in the bank you should have to justify " I can afford them..."
It could be silly, but I would like to know...

32 hp to the wheels is very good for $1000, but if you look ata dyno, the power comes at the higest rpms. You would probably not notice a difference under normal driving, maybe a little at WOT.
As I said... $1000 installed for 32 HP is a good price.
I should have done it when my engine was being rebuilt. At that time, the Parts Rep offered to install the CT headers for FREE .... Moreover, the CT was at lower price, $950 before CT hicked their prices...
I only declined cause I wanted to lemon my CLS and then settled for extended warrenty instead.. What an irony....
Still by the this spring, I am considering new Headers (CT or Greddy) and RES... By then, I should be running new racing brake pads too...
Where is my RES?

O.K., here we go again with the " How often are you gonna get to 5000 rpms and take advantage of the headers " argument. Well, plenty is my response. I mean how many times do you hear people talking about how to shift right at or just after redline to get the best performance ? Well redline is after 5000 isn't it ? I mean VTEC doesn't kick in til 4800 RPMs or so, so you don't need that either ? If you don't want to spend the grand don't, but PLEASE stop using that B.S. argument. By the way, the headers are great and i'd recommend you get them now. Or you can wait for the so called competition to make them some time before you trade your car in.
I get so sick of the old standard “if you can afford them, buy them” BS.
That’s not the question here.
The question is: Are they worth 1,300 bucks ???
For example:
I can “afford” to buy DVD’s at 35 bucks a pop at Suncoast in the mall, but I usually buy them online or at Best Buy for 20-40 percent off.
Does this mean I can't “afford” to buy them at Suncoast……NO !!!
I CAN “afford” the headers for my new 6-Speed, but don’t want to do it if I won’t feel a difference.

A former member here and I raced a couple times after a meet last year. He had CT headers and a AEM CAI; I was stock. In our runs to ~70, we both were very surprised by how little difference there was. I was right with him most of the way. He did win by a small margin but not nearly the amount I was hoping for (I wanted to get headers back then). After that experience, I decided to wait for other companies to bring their headers to market, hoping they'd offer more gains (or at least be more cost-effective). Take a look at his posts:
