Comptech Headers--Install Tomorrow

Well I picked up a set of used Comptech Headers today!! I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to have them installed. Now a few questions. I only have the front and rear headers and the "A" pipe. I do not have any of the bolts, gaskets, lock nuts, or washers that Comptech sends you with the purchase brand new. Im assuming that all of those missing parts, the acura dealer can re-use what's currently on the car??

Also do they disconnect the battery when doing the install? I never got the radio code for my car when I bought it used. Im worried that they will disconnect the battery and i wont be able to get my radio back without the code.

Other than those questions I cant wait for them to be installed!! It will be my first power mod. ( I plan on having Tanabe Springs and Tokico Shocks installed, headlights cleared, and install Comtech Icebox by second week of April! )

I think Acura OEM bolts will not work. They have to be a longer length.

They wil probably d/c the battery because they have to remove the 02 sensor.

Enjoy the power gains.

The OEM stuff will not work. The stock peices are not actual bolts but like threaded rods with a nut in the middle.

You want all new gaskets and bolts from comptech. It will help ensure there won't be any exhaust leaks and that everything will stay together correctly.

These are the measurements that Comptech gives for the parts they will supply...

6- 10mm x 32mm bolts
6- 10mm x lock nuts
12- 10mm washers
3- 2 1/4" compression gaskets

Anyone know what the factory bolts, lock nuts, washers, and gaskets sizes are?

You cannot use the the factory bolts from the headers to the down pipe. They are not the same at all and will not work.

Comptech uses a bolt with a nut on one end, where the factory fastner is threaded on both ands, one end threads into the header, then a nut hold the down pipe to the header.

You need to get the parts from comptech, or at least get the three crush gaskets (metal rings that go between headers and downpipe and downpipe and cat) and comprabable size bolts.

Sorry for the redundancy.

The bolts and nuts, maybe from Home Depot or locally.

THe Compression rings, maybe from acura. I don't know if they are the same size as stock, although I assume they are.

I guess I will give the dealer a call tomorrow morning and ask if they have everything. If not, then a side trip to home depot will hopefully cure all. I think i read that people were using the stock gaskets without problems. I dont know if that's the same as the "compression rings" mentioned. Im gonna be really pissed if I cant get them installed tomorrow. I have been waiting forever to add more power to my ride!

i bought a used set of comptech headers that didn't come with the gaskets. i contacted comptech to try and buy the gaskets but they said they wouldn't sell them separately, they only come in with the set of headers. so i just bought a new set of Acura OEM gaskets and they work fine. so the dealer should just be able to use the acura gaskets.

If you buy some nuts and bolts from a hardware store make sure you get stainless steel.

Go to a marine (boat) outlet. they have the sizes you need in stainless steel hardware. get some never seize also. if the marines store is out of MM sizes, go to this site to convert to imperial size. http://www.easysurf.cc/cnvert.htm

and blow off the compression gasket, they have the potential to leak eventually. use the stock flat gasket. use your old one, they don't wear out unless it's exposed to the elements.

or just listen to other peoples jibberish. hehe

I got my set used also, & bought the 3 compressions gaskets from CT with no problems. My set came with the bolts though.
