Comptech or H&R OE

I'm getting 19's and i'm looking for springs and yes i have read the hundreds of threads concerning springs... Well i'm still left confused on which springs to get!!!

First do the comptech (1.5 front and 1.0 rear) Springs leave the car with that bad of a raked look if so how bad is it??

Would i be better off going with the H&R OE (springs 1.5 rear 1.0 front) to give the car a even look but then again will the rear sit lower !!. Keep in mind i'm not lookin to slam the car.

If you guys could PLEASE help me out.. I dont want to be spending all this money and be left with something i'm not pleased with. I'm leaving it up to you guys!! Thanx for the help

IMO the H&R O.E.'s really don't compare to the Comptech Springs.

The H&R Sport's are more about the same, although they lower the rear more than the Comptech's. There is a thread in the Extremely Useful Topics section that has pics of both drops.

honestly if going for looks i would go for H&R sports, but if you are going for ride comfort i would go with the comptech. H&R OE are just outta the question unless you are on a budget, if not get the comptech or H&R sports IMO

I have the H&R Sports with Illuminas. IMHO, they're a great combination + a lot of flexibility. The stance is great, too.

A little known fact is that H&R sports (the accord ones) are better for the CLS whereas the 50103 are better for the TLS. The TLS has a heavier rear so I would go:

TLS : Comptech, 50103, H&R OE front only

CLS : H&R Sport, Eibach Prokit, Comptech, H&R OE

in that order

This the most asked question here. I think..

I think if you ask 100 people on here. you might just get 100 different answers to that question.

Some say that the Comptech drop gives you a raked look. Some say that the H&R OE drop is so minimal, that it is a waste.

In my opinion, the Comptech gives you nice drop MADE for our cars, and only our cars. And with the 19's, that might give you a nice look. If you want to just level out the car a little bit and not give it a true lowered look, then I would go with the H&R OE springs.

Thanx for all the help but just that one question for all the people with Comptech. How bad is the rake look?

The H&R sports would be to low for what i'm looking for ive seen them in person and the car was very very nice but just to low for what im lookin for.

The rake is not that noticeable, secondly its there for a purpose, such dynamics as hard acceleration in which our car lunges backwards and weight is transferred to the rear wheels, leads to loss of traction on the front wheel/tire, wheel hopping and poor 60 ft.. By having the rake/slightly taller rear or lesser lowering the spring prevents the front wheel drive car from squatting too much and lessen the above factors.

I have comptech and the car looks and handles much better than the OEM stuff. BTW I have comptech with stock shocks.

So you are saying the car will handle and perform better with comptech then the h&r sport springs?

Possibly but shocks and sways will make more of a difference than one spring vs another.

It all depends on what you are looking for, regarding handling and performance, if you want a go- kart feel in your CL you have to lower the car more than 1.5 inches and your drive will degrade considerable and it will be to much for a daily driver. I would say that HR sport seem to lower the car to much to make it comfortable for me and it may perform better around the twisties but not for every day drive.

Comptech is good and improves the dynamics of the stock suspension by about 15% stiffer when combining the sways with springs. This set up seem to be okay without affecting the driveability and feeling of the car. It does not make the ride a harsh and bumpy experience.

Overall the rake is there to prevent the front wheel drive car from losing traction upon hard acceleration when the car takes off and to reduce squatting effect. This effect is great on a RWD

So is it true for the CL-S the H&R Sport Sways for the 99-01 TL is the best fit for an even dropped Cl part 51858 or is the newer application for the Tl part 50103 a better looking drop?
