Comparables

Some of my friends have asked me what are the comparables to my car. It raised an interesting question. What exactly ARE our competitors? I know the BMW 330 series is, and the Lexus IS300? is too I believe. What else? What about the Solara? or the M300? Any opinions?

anything in the same price range that you would have considered buying... is a competitor.

You know...if you really want a car that compares with us..size as well as power and comfort, you have to look at the real midsize Euros. BMW 5-series, Audi A6s, Lexus GSs, Grand Prixs, and any other car that is a mid-size....people tend to forget that our cars are a foot longer than most of those 3-series...A4s...ISs...

yes... we have luxury sport cars... not sport cars.

3-series, IS's... their sports cars... not much luxury in either of them.

You sit in the passenger seat of our car and you feel like you could play frisbee with the driver.

You sit in the passenger seat of an 330/IS and you feel as though your giving the driver a lap dance. heh

This is why I like the CL... nice blend. Best of both worlds.

Soopa you have such a way with words.

I must agree.

Although the other cars I was looking at were the Audi A4, Grand Prix GTP and CamaroSS/FirebirdTransAmWS6.

(Didn't want the rear-wheel drive in winter/rainy weather, if you're wondering why I took a V6 over a V8, and besides the Acura is so sexy inside.)

That's what good about the CL. Its good all around. Other manufacturere have tried the same thing, and they end up making a mediocre car all around. Look at the Galant and the Diamonte, even the Lincoln LS. I looked at the LS... V8 though.

I don't really know why everyone thinks we are comparable to the IS and 3 series. IMO. We are closer in comparison to the old sport coupes of the late 80's and early 90's like the T-Bird Turbo/Super Coupe. And now, I know you don't want to hear this, but currently our cars are comparable (size / function) Pontiac GP, Chevy Monte Carlo, Chrysler Siebring, Dodge Avenger. I know these comparisons will not make many of us happy, but if you really think about it, the cl is closer to those cars than the IS or the 3 series. The soon to be dropped 4 door Integra is closer to the IS and 3 Series than the CL ever was or will be.

well, we also have the clk320, c70 (for another year anyway), and we had the sc300.
maybe even a saab (don't konw which model), and i guess the solara can be considered there too.

we are closer to them than any of the previosu cars sneakypete mentioned. i think the closest would have to be the c70, although that's going bye bye in a year or two. (i think they sold like 20 last year?)
