Is it a coilpack?

For the last 2-3 months I've been getting a cel but it would only last for a day or so and then go away. I ran the code it kept coming up as misfire on cylinder such and such or random misfire on multiple cylinders. Is this a bad coilpack?

Still happening? Is it the same cylinder over and over again or does it move around?

I thought I heard the random misfire was due to a bad coil.
If it is ,buy one and due the switch game. Before buying a whole set

Or if it continually happens on the same cylinder swap the coil pack with another and see if the code follows.

At first it was one particular cylinder then it started saying misfire on multiple cylinders.

^i have when it first happened but I forgot what he said lol. I'm sure he mentioned coilpacks. I think I'm going to do the switch and see game or if I can find some for cheap I'm just going to replace all of them so I don't have to do that.

Sounds like a coilpack. Very common (see it almost weekly on the TL side, same symptoms)

i has a similar thing what happened more often. turned out to be an injector. when the car is misfiring. start unplugging coil by coil. if the engine starts to studer more than that coil is good. if u dont get any change in engine sound, that that coil u just pulled is the one that is bad

I spoke with an Acura Master Mechanic and he tells me that the Random Misfire code often points to valves out of adjustment.

Remember this ONLY works on a coil that has failed completely. Many times the coil is still working, but is failing enough to trigger a misfire.

I agree with Tom (rajca). I had this same problem a couple months ago. I was freaking out getting all this mixed info. Do the pull test. Unplug one at a time and narrow it to a cylinder. When I did that, i popped the new one in and presto, ran perfect!

on cold starts it sputters like it wants to cut off then it levels off. do you think that would be a coilpack or injector?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this?
Sounds exact to what I have going on, I'm going to do a pull test in the morning and get the code read as well.

Last week, I had two ignition coils suddenly go bad (at 111k). Initially I was SURE it was a really bad tank of gas, but my mechanic read the codes (misfire on 2 and 5) and swapped in two used working ignition coils, and problem gone....
(now shopping for new ignition coils, ~$40 for OEM...)
