cls vs sti

I had a couple quick runs with a stock wrx sti, I was going down N. Oak trafficway if KC, MO and There was a guy looking over at me in sti, he gave me a nodd and we hit it, 40-90 he put about 1/2 a car on me, then we went again 45-100 and he put abut 1 car on me, after that we pulled over talked for a little bit, he was very surprised that we he looked over i was beside him!!! He said that usually he kills cl type S's. After all that he said he wanted to race me from a stop but i knew i would get killed with his all-wheel drive and my crappy front wheel drive.

Those cars are pretty sweet the this was the first time i ever saw one up close, the coolest thing about it that is has a variable dif where the driver can adjust power dist. ex 40% front wheels adn 60% rear!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder what my car would do from 20-120,

Nice run. But its hard to see how your mid 14 second car can keep up close with a low-mid 13's car. Maybe with a stock WRX but not the STI man. They trap at 105mph. I don't see any CL-S 6speed trapping that or close. Good kill anyhow!

the only reason they even run 13s is cause of 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive isn't good from a roll.

a 6-speed with I/H/E can run high 13's... it usually runs low 14's due to traction. I have pulled 3+ cars on an EVO VIII... the STi isn't that much quicker.

There are CL-S's that can trap 105mph NA

a 6 speeds problem is traction off the line, u dont want to fuck with a 6 speed w/ headers from a roll

I really want to go... but don't want to break the car either! Maybe next Saturday... Carlsbad. It's funny I did a pseudo-race with an M3 (E46) today... and I swear I thought I pulled on him until he braked... dunno - car feels quick, but then again... who knows!

That was a good vid. So how close was it, was hard to tell. The guy said something in the end about the CL. It at least looked like it caught up after the STI jumped off the line.

What car did you run the Evo with? Also, what mod do you have?

Altitude is nearly sea level at 250'. Correction is pretty insignifigant.

If you can can beat a E46 M3, would you be interested in running with a C32?

It seems as if the driver in the STi miss-shifted. I raced my friend's 5 times and yes, they are quick.

I do have a couple friends that have been to Carlsbad a couple of times. Two silvers and one red. I think you are talking about the red C32.

STIs

You have to spank the hell of the WRX STI to make it go. I mean throw a rod and rip the clutch. But if you know what you're doing there extremly quick. I was surprised how quick they are when I got a chance to drive one. They pull hard in through 3rd gear. Too bad the car fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. I guess you have to have the flavor for the rally look...

Did you see the far lane light up at the end? That indicates this winner.

You have to launch the STi around 6000rpm to get the best launch. Otherwise it just bogs off the line. This is common on almost all AWD cars.

I think the Evo does 0-60 in 4.6-4.8 seconds. But it does 5-60 in like 5.5-5.9 seconds. Its all about the standing launch. This is why the modded CL-S with headers and IceBox could "keep up"

I'm sorry but I have to call B/s on this thread.......a C/L at best is a 15 second car.......there is NO way that it could beat an sti unless the guy driving was a complete idiot.........hell even a TL type S is running close 7.6/16.0 in the 1/4 would get spanked.....a RSX-S would do just slightly better.............show me a C/L running low 13's and I'll buy you an X-mas goose for dinner. Better yet, get a C/L in my area to run me and show that a slow ass acura can take me.....cause I know its not gonna happen......

dude...you're signature time is a 14.3........there are stock sti's running 12's.......please don't make me rage on you guys for one pathetic win that is not in any way characteristic of what the typical outcome of a cl/sti match up would be........i've driven cl's and i hate to burst your bubble but that car is not even in the same category as an sti.........should one choose to think i'm wrong then let's set up up a friendly best outta 5 race........this is not meant as cockiness, its just a simple fact because I know the sti will spank the living s outta a cl ANY DAY and from any speed...dig or roll.......

cool....you're in ellicott city off 95 in md.....my wife's dad lives off rt 100/95.......next time i'm down to dc from ct i'll gladly challenge your cl to a run........you know, since us sti's can only move from a 6k drop.....

well damn.....modded with nos anything can happen.....that's like me throwing out the aps sti that runs 11's......i doubt you cl guys are running those times, you would get spanked.....stock for stock an sti will KILL a CL.....and if you go to the depths of mods you will see the same results.......show me a cl running mid to low 11's with NO internals (just bolt on's).......a guy in a cl with i/h/e and nos beating a stock sti is really not even a valid comparision.......its like saying a gutted crx with nos can take a zo6....yea, it can happen but its a joke of a "true" race and in NO way a real comparison of two cars
