Okay who gave the 13-year-old a keyboard?
Look, child, there's a Racing Stories forum where you can talk about racing other cars with a CL. And there's a Search function for you to use to look for past posts about raving against Mustang GTs.
Stop being such a prick to everyone.

Re: Way too hot...
I've beaten every mustang gt i've ever raced on the FREEWAY. Never raced one off the line so not sure how our cars do against it in a 1/4 mile. But bottom line, considering that they are american muscle V8's, they're not all that!

But yeah, I forgot, your the best driver ever, and those Rustang drivers all were scared of you. Probably slowed down in deference, right?

i've raced 2 mustangs in my life, one was an lx 5.0 at the track same setup as me intake/exhaust/headers and he got me off the line, but midway down the track i caught right up to him and ended up beating him by .4 seconds. Now the other race was against a 2001 GT we both had intake and exhaust where i was ahead of him from the start and when i shut off at 70 he was at my back bumper. In that race(not sounding stuck up or anything) it was all about the driver which is more or less what our cars are. CLS vs GT is pretty much about the driver, road and track tested the gt at 0-60 6.1 and 1/4 in 14.7 motorweek tested our car 0-60 in 5.9 and 1/4 in 14.6....which like i said whoever gets the jump or the better driver, in a nutshell. I've lost to cobra's plenty of times cuz those things are just fast. so dont race that until we get the charger....or unless the person is a complete fuck up and can't drive

If I ever ran a 14.6, I'd burn my car...
so the answer is: Hell no you're not beating an 01 GT from a dead stop, stock for stock, I don't care if the driver hadone foot and hasta hit the clutch with his left hand.
Highway is a different story. my car is lightly modded, so now I have no problem with CLs on the highway, i shut down after I pull a couple of cars so i can play around wth them, I think they are among the fastest N/A V6s running around. but when I was stock? sheit, I knew I had a fight on my hands...it was all about who hit the go pedal first. I tried to catch one when my car was new and we were locked in place until around 125 - 130 when i finally started to inch him down. Hell we ran outta road before it mattered....

this is why you can't put up a stang-cls post. because you get ignorant people making all types of assanine comments. have you ever been to the track infiltr8r? so what your saying is the professionals at road and track are worse drivers than you? they get paid to suck at driving thats what your saying? use at least half your brain. Your v8 is at the bottom of the v8 food chain, sell your POS and get a camaro or something so this way you dont have a complete POS. Oh and nice interior that hasn't changed since 1994 moron.

for your information, I'v ebeen racing at the track for over 10 years, spectating for 30. I know that the GTStang is at the bottom of the V8 GT car food chain, never disputed it, never will, however, the Cobrais at the top, so I guess Th Stang covered all of it's bases. I live in NJ, anytime you want to see the CLs running mid to high 14s and the GTs running low 14s, high 13s, you are more than welcome. I'm no hater, I'm a car guy. i don't go on LS1 boards claiming to beat the crap otta SSs cuz I know it's ain't happening, even if the SS guy has a foot missing and hasta hit the clutch with his left hand.
oh I'm sorry that was assinine - or was it just a little ball busting..you know, tongue in cheek humor?
don't take it personal, it's only the internet.

I have 3.55 (yuk!) gears, Auburn posi (LSD for the RWD impared ), MAC CAI (TB to MAF), K&N, having an 11 Cobra clutch installed as we speak, Nitto 555R DRs, B&M Ripper shifter, 1/2" upper to lower intake spacer and a partridge in a pear tree...
with all that said, the only real gains come from the gear (.1) and the tires (.2)...the car still can't get out of it's own way, lol...
I had 3.73 gears and they were good for about .2, but I exploded the stock posi (imagine that...Ford tuff) and took the gears with it. My mech gave me the gears for nothing after I dumped my pockets on the Auburn.

8r...i sorta agree stock for stock...but only sorta...auto for auto i say it's close and 6mt to 5mt again i think its close with the edge to the GT only because it should get out of the whole better...i think you re probablly assuming GT 5mt to cl-S auto now that stock for stock id say the cl has little chance

When I ran a 00 GT (bone stock) to a 13.9, I launched at 3000 rpm with a slight amount of clutch slip and no traction control, as slight wheelspin is optimal. Given the testing protocols that R&T/C&D et al use, I;d also run a 14.6

so back to what pull-t is saying, then they did the same thing for the cl-s. no clutch play, starting from idle, etc etc...but you do know that when these car magazines or whatever its not just 1 run, they run the 1/4 and 0-60 all day long and lets say the 6.1 and 14.7 is their best time...this is a neverending argument that bounces fact to fact, opinion to opinion and its not gonna get anywhere so might as well just stop it now, its been done in the past and all it does is start shit.

I'm no professional driver nor do I think any of the other Mustang 5.0 owners that were there were pros either. In fact, it was the very first time I ever raced at the strip. I ran 14.4 beating most printed magazine times by a whole second, and the best printed magazine times by a half-second. Low/mid-14s was the norm for a 5-speed, so I wasn't a "fluke" or "factory-ringer" or anything like that.
So that's one reason people get ridiculed for quoting magazine numbers. I think my grandmother could beat the times posted in the mags.

A stock cl type-s 6 speed can and should always beat a stock gt, even the newest model. All major magazines test the latest GT between 6.0 and 6.3 seconds (Car & Driver was 6.3) and the CL at 5.8/5.9 seconds. This is with the GT's manual also. The quarter mile times were all slower than the GT as well. I can't wait until a mustang wants to try to run me. I have an AEM intake and a stainless exhaust system, try me GT owners! Traction is a big factor though too and knowing how to launch.
