Was on my way to deposit my check and I didn't feel like taking the freeway route so I go on Mission Blvd instead (eastbay peeps know where). Anyway, just driving minding my own business and I see this newer model 3000gt making a rt turn onto Mission Blvd. for about a good4 blocks or so he stays behind me. Only 1 other car on the road besides me that was in the rt lane. All of a sudden he guns it, passes the car that was next to me and zooms by me probly going 60. Speed limit is 45. He's about 5 lengths ahead by now before I decide I wanna race. He slowed down to the limit and I line up next to him. We're at a roll at around 40 and we take off at the same time. He puts about a car on me before I catch up. By now we're at about 110 side by side and he shuts it down. I'm glad cuz I was still in 3rd gear and hoping I don't fry my tranny. So I guess I got a win on my first race. I notcied when we were lining up he had 3 people in the car. I've been in a Mitsu 3000 before and there ain't no room in the back. Also, I think this guy just didn't know how to drive cuz I figured he should have dusted me?

 

If the car had 3 people in it and still beat you - It had to be a VR4, no way an SL could do that to you - and with 3 people in the back, Im actually surprsed the VR4 did so well against you:

Yeah SL's are crap but those VR-4's are faaaaaaast.

It had to be a VR4, it had a newer look and the stock chromies. Prob all that weight he was carrying. I really don't even know why I raced to begin with. I guess I had a HS flashback. I always thought of my first race going up against a slower car, I was pretty nervous too cuz I've had a perfect driving record the last 5 yrs. I know our car is fast, I just never pushed hard to find it's potential.
A buddy of mine has a VR4 and it's a stick, do they come in auto too?
