CLS vs. 2006 GP GXP
Boring day at work, and I'm in charge of all the dealers and the yacht store while my old man is in Vegas. So the sales manager and I decided to do a quick run after closing the store. He's driving a new Grand Prix GXP as a demo, and I was driving my CL-S. Quick spec on the GXP: 5.3L V8, 16 valve, 303@5600hp. On to the races...
- First race was from a light, I got a bit too excited and jumped into the throttle which led to some nasty wheel spin turning into hop. I eased off and at this point he had about a car on me, eased back into the throttle and went WOT. Immediately started reeling him in and by 80 (we shut down due to traffic) I was about 3-4 cars ahead.
-From a roll (30mph) I pulled steadily to 110mph I couldnt get an exact distance but I would have to say over 6 car lengths.
I'd image the Grand Prix might do better after being broken in a little more, it had roughly 2,300 miles on the clock at the time we raced. I drove the GXP and in my opinion its a quick car, but the weight factor is what kills it. That 5.3 V8 with some mods could be quite a potent beast. I would say stock vs. stock it would be about even with a stock CLS6, maybe slightly ahead. For those of you who don't know already my mod's on the CLS include Comptech headers, intake, supercharger, and HBP. Just thought I would share that with you all.

How gay am I, I have people over after the club for drinks (as we speak) and here I'm jumping on Acurazine.. haha. Actually I came on to show a couple friends of mine the Ron Jon body kit and rims I might order, seeking an opinion. Oh the specs are 303hp, 323lbft tq and over 3,600Lbs. Like I said it has nice response, but the car just driving it feels heavy. The GM rep I spoke with claims it should do 0-60 in just under 6 seconds.

Impressive seeing as how it's very similar to the 2004 Bonnie GXP that came with a smaller V8 (4.6L Northstar) and 275hp, but weighted in at 3,780lbs which they claimed 6.6 0-60. From what I understand the Grand Prix is very close in weight because the motor itself weights almost 600lbs.

Good race, but like you stated I'm sure it needed to be broken in properly.
Stock GXPs have hot 13.76 at over 100 mph.

Another member on the same thread has taken his stock to 13.81. It's all about launching them right. The PCM is a bitch.

It's a 5.3, and with the FWD app it doesn't make sense for it to come from the factory with more, that's for us to do.
The PCM is horribly restrictive a good tune with the PCM parameters removed and this is close to low 13's. You also have to remember that the 303 HP is nowhere close to stressing the motor out, alot of room for improvements. If stock one's so far are hitting 13's, 12's aren't going to be to difficult to attain.
