CLs v RSX typeS

CLs v RSX typeS
Heading west yesterday on the Sawgrass expressway a silver RSX typeS passed me just past the toll booths. I sped up and hung with him until we hit a nice open stretch. I passed him at full throttle and he came after me but was then blocked off by another car. When he got free he started pulling on me strongly. Seems like I hit a brick wall at 110 with the automatic.
We both got off on the Commercial exit and I slowed down to about 20mph on Commercial so we could go at it. He nailed it just before I did and started pulling right away. As the Vtec engaged I narrowed the gap slightly but by the time I hit 85 or so he had a couple of cars on me and to add insult to injury pulled partly in my lane and then slowed and exited left at the next light.
Sounded like he had an intake and exhaust even though he appeared stock. I did not think the RSX's were that quick they only do a 15.0 (stock) in the Qtr.
I wonder if I had been running premium instead of regular and had tried him from a dig that the result would have been different. I never have gate shifted on any of my encounters does it make a difference?
Might be time for headers...

I'd definitely suggest starting with some premium fuel and then invest in some headers and an intake if you don't already have one. Our 4th gear sucks so that's why he pulled at 100+. The RSX-S K20A2's love aftermarket bolt-ons so it doesn't take much to make them much quicker than a stock 15 flat.

Gonna cost to catch up
If you read the owners manual it tell you to use an octane of 91 or higher. Using regular can cause clogged injectors. Should be able to take an rsx

I raced a RSX-S that had at least intake, Turbo ,and exhaust maybe more. He beat me by 2 in the 1/8. He had a better launch than me which killed me in the 1/8 mile. I was gaining at the end wish I had more road.

What the hell is gateshifting? I have never heard of this before; is this the same as powershifting/no lift shifting? Is it shifting an auto tranny using the 2 3 and 4 selectors etc?

gate shifting is like :
if the tranny were an eye ball, u taking a metal spike and swirling into ur eyeball..
if gateshifting to u guys is what i know gateshifting as.

awrite dude... first off, go premium, its worth the higher dollar, i put regular once, never again, and you shouldnt be losing to rsxS's non turbo period..... take care of your car and it will take care of you....

regular gas ruined you... RSXs put up a good fight. get headers and always use permium you should always win against a mildly modded RSX.
if you get all bolt ons it'll frustrate the bolt on RSX drivers because no matter how hard they get on it you will always be slightly faster and ahead of them once you get up in speed.

a high horsepower FWD car is not going to do that well in the 1/8 becuase they wont get traction untill the race is over.

With a rsx-s 0-60 of 7.2 sec at best compared to our 6.3 sec avg..there is no reason a stock rsx-s should beat a Cl-s as long at the CL-s is properly taken care of. I'm no expert driver but I've killed plenty of rsx-s's. Yea they are fast cars if driven properly but ours are just slightly faster. If you get beaten by a rsx-s chances are they are not stock sorry just my

I agee totally with Satin as it would be a drivers race. Ok cool your cousin has one....line it up with a CL-S with comparible equipment (I/H/E) and let us know who wins... best of three of course.

Cl gets very little gains from exhaust and intake. i had a cl-s and put a CAI on and felt hardly anything

nope. an i/h/e rsx-s is good for 14.50ish. i raced an intake, race header, catless exhaust 04 rsx-s last week in my auto 03 cl-s from just about every speed and it's dead nuts even up till 110, and there is no way my STOCK auto cls is going low 14's. now i raced the same car but an 06 with those same mods and kpro and lost pretty good from a roll. that car would probably go high 13's@100ish. the 05-06's come with them hype-r cams
