CLs Trade-in.

CLs Trade-in.
Well guys it's been a nice run but I'm begining to think it's time for a change. I love my CLS but overall the car has gotten kinda boring and I'm not going to spend nearly $10,000 to mod it up to standards with the current competition - as all of you know it takes about at least a good $5000 to see any serious performance change. I've conducted a little business with my loan company and they're cutting me a check for $25,000 towards my next car.
The cars I have been focusing on so far are a C5 Corvette, a 350Z, an S2000, and the Pontiac GTO. I'm pretty much looking for an even trade so I can spend as little as possible out of the check. I've already ruled out a mustang GT, an RX-8, and ANYTHING that Subaru or Mitsubishi makes.

I'm in the same boat but I was looking for cars a little more higher in the price range. The CLS has been really good to me but my warranty is up in ten thousand miles and I'm debating if I should run it in the ground or just cut my losses. I have been thinking about a 2003 6speed but I'm really loving the new Lexus IS...The GTO seems bad ass but its a pontiac I don't think I could stomach it. I would jump in a Maxima before I went to a GTO. S2K's are nice but I'm 6'3 and I like the space I have in the CLS and wouldn't settle for much less 350Z are everywhere and they haven't changed anything on them in a long long time. Oh and no back seat...

I wouldn't let the warranty spook you either. I've never had a failure on a Honda/Acura vehicle that I didn't cause from abuse / modifying things - and even then - I've never been left stranded by them - it's been minor setbacks.
I love the look of the new G35 - but just like anything else - they're improving it again with a VQ37 upgrade (more power, more torque, more price). Then the skyline comes out, then the Acura V10/V8 - then the...blah blah blah.
If you get caught up in it, you'll never get ahead. Find something you enjoy driving and rock it - screw the magazines and statistics. It's funny how the "underpowered" S2000 "with no torque" has no problem putting G35s, BMW 3 series and other such animals in their place on the expressway.
I'd never driven a 6-Mani CL until yesterday - OMG this thing is quick. I don't hesitate to say it would hang with any current Nissan offering in it's class - and is probably put together better, with better materials as well.

Don't do Lexus. Everytime I look at a Lexus I'm reminded of how slow and underpowered they are and the mild gearbox despite the so-called refinement. However, I'd love to get an old Lexus SC400 and drop a supercharger on that V8.

If you wanted to talk about the CL (trade in value, etc), that's one thing... But if it's not not about a 2nd Gen CL, then the current discussion can't go on here.
Please feel free to ask opinions about non-2nd Gen CL vehicles here:
