CLS milestone!

My odo turned over 50,000 miles yesterday. I bought my black on black CLS in June of 2000 with 3 miles showing. To date it has not missed a beat. I feel for the people that have had tranny problems, but mine has been perfect. The only maintenance I've allowed the dealer to do is TSB017 (brake rotors and pads). Otherwise, I do all my own manitenance and change the oil and filter every 5k. The interior looks brand new, but the exterior looks a bit dated. Since I commute in the car the front has several paint dings along with the usual marks from parking lot idiots.
Overall I give Acura/Honda high marks for the car. If I could change anything it would be less wind noise, RWD, more torque lower on the rev band, and MUCH BETTER navi support!!!

I've forgotten about my tranny having to be replaced and I look forward to having an unscheduled maintenance free ownership with this car. It'll take me a few years to get 50K miles on the clock though. My odo. just creeped pask 8600 miles yeasterday.

You are a very forgiving customer! If my tranny went bad I don't think that I could say it was forgotten. Acura/Honda is lucky to have you!

Nice update. I agree, not all CL's have problems. i have had mine since 4/00 and just like you, only the Brake tsb and the moonroof noise. no real problems.

That's great to hear, you must have one of the most experienced CLs! Seems like we hear more about the problems than the no problems. I assumed every CL auto trans might have problems but hopefully it's just a small %. Hopefully Honda addressed the sunroof and brake issues on my 03? Who knows? My sunroof doesn't rattle, open or closed that I can hear.
It had the exterior visor which I took off for now.

I prefer a manual shift and got an 03 CL-S this month. I love the 6-speed and the car is great. At first I had Legend envy since I've driven Legend Coupes for 12 years, but the last one was an auto so I was eager to switch to a manual shifter, and boy what a shifter! I do miss the telescoping auto fly away wheel, with seat memory, back window operation, real wood, ...oh well, the CL is plenty fine for me.
I hope Acura builds on their successes and mistakes and offers a new premium coupe in a year or two, probably off of the new TL.
I'd want total reliability and proper testing, and sportier or more unique styling.

Point well taken. I dunno... It was a mild inconvinience and I'm supposed to have one of the "fixed" (after Jan 1, 2003) trannys. So I don't plan on needed the tranny warranty extension.

Now, if it does brake, my tone will probably change.

I can live with the "cold" rattles, and the other little issues the car has. But every car has their problems. All I have to say is when I get to drive my CL, I enjoy it each and every time!
