it was about 1200am he and i were the only 2 cars on richmond ave. coming up on hwy6. we passed by a cop both of us speeding, then came to a stop sign and took off. he then gave chase catching the other guy 1st then pulls up to me( i was already at the light on hwy6, it was a 1/4 race) told me to turn into the gas station where the other car was. i pull in he checks us for warrants...the other driver had some so he gets cuffed and placed in the cop car. he then tells me to get out. i said "what the fuck''? u taking me to jail for speeding? he then talks his macho cop shit and hand cuffs me and puts me in the same car. they check my cl for 2 HOURS! they do nothing but fuck my car up. they never found shit. then i hear him on the radio say..make that 2 wreckers. i then lost it, screaming my ass off at all 6, yes a total of 6 cop cars came for 2 guys. after telling me how speeing is wrong he does 95mph on richmond while taking us downtown. telling both of us we wouldnt want none of his camaro! HARRIS COUNTY CONSTABLES SUCK DICK! he took us to houston city jail, all the cops there were like i cant believe u 2 got charged with this. they said we are the 1st they have seen with this charge having not actually been in an accident. i was in jail for 18 hours(they say the computers were down). the guy i raced was in a damn mitsubishi mirage with a 2.0 turbo engine swap, and yes the cls walked all over his ass. my 1st court date is the 31st i will let you guys know what happens, lawyer says its total bullshit and will be an easy case to win. the cop never clocked us and couldnt tell how fast we were going. i am out some $ but i kinda want it to go to trial so i can see the look on that BITCH cops face when i get JACK SHIT but a dent in my wallet. for all those who hate racing, like i said it was late hea nd i were the only 2 cars on the street. i never race in traffic. for all those in houston.............let this be a lesson to you

Damn you are a much better perosn that I am my friend. THere would have been one less cop in Houston tonight, I have no damn control. If they were fucking up my car and shit and being complete pricks. Sorry to hear it that fucking sucks but you can't let this slide, It's gonna cost you Grand+ I would do something about it for sure.

So Sorry. I think we all have had our little encounters with the so-called "law enforcement" folks from time to time. I was recently ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign when my wife and I know for darned certain that I stopped. I decided to go to court and plead my case. We'll see..... If he shows, the judge may side with him, but at least I'll make my point.....
Good luck and be careful out there!

From the way you describe how they searched your car and how the other guy had warrants on him, sounds like they thought you was dealin' druugs.
Rule o' Thumb:
1 cop car = routine traffic violation
2 cop cars= DUI
>2 cop cars = drug bust
Sorry about what you've been through though.

You are not the first to be taken to jail for racing in that area. It is a routine thing. Just remember that there is a police station at Dairy Ashford and Richmond. They patrol that area and Westheimer like white on rice for racing.
Hey this quick reply thing is neet!

Damn bro,
You should have given the cop "Dajuice"
The Cop You
Get the message!
I hope you beat the rap, it seems like he needed to be a dick since his wifey didn't give him any and all he does is :wackit: so he takes it out on you. Dumbass could have at least had a radar gun.

Dude I hope you weren't cussing at him, if so that probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. Play it cool, and he might have let you go. Generally it is up to their discretion wether they haul your ass to jail or not. Apparently you gave him just cause to not give you leeway.
I openly admit that I have done a little street racing, but the area you describe was not the best place to be doing it. It may seem unpopulated, but damnit did you see those damned town homes back there?? You're lucky most of the kids (I pray) were inside in bed, otherwise someone could have really gotten hurt, or worse yet killed.
I'm not trying to put you down man, just try to be careful next time.

By being nice to a cop I caught a break after being stopped for doing 80 in a 55. He let me go. He just told me to slow down. In Texas the law says that if you are doing 25miles over the speed limit or more they can take you to jail.

I'm sorry, but every single time people write it like that, and it looks _SO_ gay. It's not that you drove and didn't get into a WRECK, it's that you were careless and apathetic as to the consequences of your actions.
Anyway, that aside, sorry this happened to you man. I hope you get off scot-free.

If they were weaving in and out of traffic, or racing on a busy street, or anything else that could possibly cause harm to people THEN I could see a ticket for it. Too bad a good percentage of the time that's not the case but the penalty still is the same. Such crap.

I beg to differ about the reckless driving argument.
Of course reckless driving is bad, so is careless driving. But what is the definition of reckless/careless driving? What constitutes reckless?
The law is not always so clearly defined in that area and it certainly isn't consistantly applied by LEO.
I honestly believe that traffic laws and traffic violations are and should be considered NOT CRIMINAL in nature unless you commit some criminal act (yes there are a few exceptions). You may not know this but there use to be a time when they could haul you into jail for just about anything you did in your car; so they had to do something about this pronto because you can only image what a problem this caused.
If you say 25 mph over the speed limit is careless and 35 mph over the speed limit is reckless, then that's the law; the law is the law. So if you are caught on radar doing 51 in a 25 because you missed a speed limit sign (you just didn't see it), you should get a careless driving ticket and should go to jail? Hardly.
It all depends on where you live and that's why you see the different attitudes/comments/feelings about it. In [most] states, [most] traffic violations have been decriminalized. That means you can run 14 red lights in a row and only the fine and points goes up....not your time behind bars. It means you cannot be arrested for [certain] traffic violations and you do not get a criminal record (but a civil record) for traffic violations. But there are exceptions. Like DWI and eluding.
It's been argued in court cases across the country for many years because the laws are vague. Read this and tell me what you think. Be sure to read all the little sections at the end, then you'll see how much power the cops really have at their discretion. Is this good or bad? I think it's a good idea but too bad it can't be fairly or properly applied the way it was intended.

very nice post ken! well i went to court today and all my lawyer did was reset it for aug. 14th. he says the cop said in his report i was reckless driving...due to speeding but my lawyer says speeding isnt reckless driving. he says he will read up on this and by the next court date i should be done with all this BS. thank god the prosecutor is a friend of his! the way things work is soooo fucked up. its always ''who ya know''
