biggest turn off about our car!

I mean yeah, people complain about the slush box, and the tranny, and the wheel gap, and the bowling ball interior, and all this other crap .. but in the last couple years i think the most resounding complaint about the CL has been ... the

RATTLES

gawd i hate it. after having taken my car umpteen number of times, to every dealership in the midwest ..... I finally dropped my car off for a "take your time, and do it right" fixup at this dealership here in cleveland. They kept it for 8 days; took everything apart to fix this rattle. i got it back today and its there as prominent as ever!!!!!!! SONS OF BEACHES. The only thing good about this past week was the '03 TL loaner.

i dont blame all of you who are trading this car in .. i mean geez. after paying 30+k and getting rattles that would make a Neon laugh; what can Acura expect?

if the reverse light housing is touching the window, i think you have more to worry about than rattles.

I think its more like a dry rubber sqeuak for me, and only when is cold out. sounds like a messed up rubber bushing. Other than that, the sunroff rattle and various other rattles come and go. Sometimes my car rides like a gem, and other times its like a bag full of teeth. I can never get it to rattle the way I want to show the dealer.

Still have rattles...

1) The door lock squeaks afer it rains
2) Windshield rubs the dashboard just above the gauges.
3) The center console buzz all the time...

I hate ratlles.... I agree that this is the worst problem in the CLS.. you live it each second you drive your CLS....

While my CL is down waiting for a new tranny they put me up in a brand new Ford Taurus. It had 200 miles on it when I got it, and 3000 miles later has rattles EVERYWHERE! Come drive this Ford for a week and you'll be loving your CL.

I have about 31000 miles and have no rattles at all. The only rattle I had was the sunroof.

one person got away with squeezing some speaker carpet in between .. i tried that, the carpet didnt hold, it kept moving and falling through ..

someone also put some rubber washer's / rubber feet between the brake light and glass ... i havent done that. maybe i just assumed that after a week, Acura would do that themselves. ESPECIALLY when I told them the problem, suggested a fix, and told them that if they just put these little rubber feet to kill the noise, I'd be satisfied. They were like, oh no dont worry, we'll do something a lot more permanent than stick rubber feet in there!

my ass

29k and none. I think the earlier models are less prone to the rattles, and I think Shawn proved it was fixed in the 03 cars.

28k miles, and I have rattles EVERYWHERE!!! For example:

* Center console creaks around corners, acceleration and braking
* Mysterious rattle behind my NAV
* some new rattle in the rear deck (think its my passenger-side speaker)
* Sunroof. This is the THIRD TIME I've had this rattle, and am still taking it back to the dealer to be fixed!

By the way, any suggestion on getting rid of some of these?? Anyone fixed these before? I asked the dealer to do it, and every time I do, they get worse.

Lube? I'm assuming you mean the hinge. I've had that in past cars, and wd-40 or whatever I used did the trick...

I've got one that appeared this winter, thought it was just cause of the cold weather, but it's back again. It's right above the center vents. When ever I push down on the dash right above that area it stops. Should I take it to the dealer, or will they screw it up even worse by taking it all apart?

I have 6k on mine, but yea the fuking sunroof rattles sometimes on mine too...is there a reason for that, something i can do to fix?

Overall though, rattles is not really a good enough reason to 'dis this car...for 30k you get more than than a 40k+ car. Plus the satisfication of knowing its a japanese car, and (for the MOST part and for MOST people), its built to last.

02' cls, no rattles or squeaks...at 7k miles. Here's what I think may cause this for alot of people:

1. lving in rural/suburban areas with bumpy back roads and potholes.
2. Bass in your face sounds systems that shake the crap out of your car.
3. Aftermarket suspension and in some cases just having CLS suspension. I tend not to hear about CLP owners having rattle probs.

I'm not counting the sunroof squeak everyone has, that's very easily fixed.

Rattles Squeaks and Creaks...

ok i have a sunroof rattle but only when the moonroof is exposed other then that its as quiet as a sleeping baby :knock on wood: third brake light is drivin me fuckin nuts and just on top of the navi is an occasional squeak which a quick push on the dash resolves for a few days i think my rear passenger side also makes noise but i havent fully examined where it is

however i have an auto solution for all the rattles squeaks and creaks...

volume dial turned all the way up...

works everytime

no rattles here

You guys just need to turn the music up so you can't hear anything. I have a jeep right now and thats what I do cause of all the noise it makes. Although my parents TL has no rattles at all after 22k.

I just got my car tinted and the tint place had to push them deeper under the glass so you can't really see them. Basically, in a nutshell, they took 2 2 1/2 inch strips of what looked like black astroturf carpet and shoved them down between the rear deck and the glass on either side of the rear brake light.
