CLS 6speed still the best out there for me
Yes I am trying to sell my white 03 6speed, my plan is to get another one, diff color with Navi. But I thought I should go out and redrive the competiton. I've driven 2 BMW 02 330 coupes, one auto and one 5 speed, and a 6 speed Infiniti G35 coupe.
I don't know if it just because I'm used to the CLS, but it still seems like the best combination of near luxury and sport coupe out there, at least for me and for the price. I guess I like a little more luxury than the 3 series offers, and the Infinit is nice but does not seem near as refined as the others.
I like the BMW 330CI a lot, very sexy performance car, but it's hard to justify the price, and you lose space, some luxury, and Acura reliability with it.
The G35 seems unrefined, but it is more my type of car than most stuff out there, the looks are good on it.
So, I do not think I will sway from Acura yet. And when there is a new Acura coupe out, that may be top of my list again.

Hey man, im in the same situation as u kinda. i just drove the 6-speed today, and SHIT it is so fast. MY 01 auto cl-s feels so slow now, but maybe u should think about some mods. YOu will definately take those cars. If u are looking fora new color get black, it is so hot on the 6 speed. Im probably buying mine in a few days!!! K good luck

You guys buying new or used? If new, I am suprised the dealers still have any.
But I did the same thing. CLS6 #1 was a satin silver non navi no spoiler, drove for 11,000 miles, 7 months. Sold for CLS6 #2, anthricite with spoiler and navi. Both are 2003s
You're gonna like the navi. ALOT!

I dunno I think the navi on the CL is kinda dinky compared to the newer ones in the TSX, TL, MDX, RL etc. The smaller screen and more old school looking buttons. But that's what happens when I'm around new Acuras all the time I guess. I still don't think it's worth it to trade up just for different color and navi. At least I would sell your current one and then wait another couple months or so so that second year depreciation will hit it as well and maybe it will end up being in your favor price-wise.

Put a custom NAVI in the CLS 6spd and save a few bucks.
1) You probably won't find a new one.
2) If you are lucky enough to find one, you'll take such a screwing in the ass on trade, it's not even close to being worth it.
The Bimmer is an awesome car, but I just couldn't justify paying for the premium. I drove the CLS6 and loved it, but I had such a bitter taste in my mouth from my transmission experiences, that I couldn't make myself but another CLS. The G just seemed like the car for me. Faster than all the others, handled equally, if not better than the Bimmer and much better than the CLS6 and it was priced right in the middle within budget.
Good luck finding the car you're after. Certainly do what you want, but I'd really think twice about doing what you're thinking.

I had an 01 CLS and liked it. But the 6sp is so much better of a car and takes to mods better - IMHO.

Well, I'm also going to get a diff interior color too.
I hear what you're saying about waiting a little while on the used CLS but I'm not too concerned about the price, since the other cars I've been testing are easy $5-10k more. My problem is selling mine. Anyone??
The G35 is nice, but nowhere as smooth or refined as the CLS. I test drove a used 6speed G35 with Navi, it was $37k (4k miles). I told the rep I would not pay anything over $30 for any G35, Navi or not. THe interior, trunk lid, dash materials seem cheaper in the G35. They are overpriced. For that kind of money I would go BMW.

I understand about you wanting to dump the white one and get a different color. My vigor was white, my Jeep is white, my CL-S6 is anthricite. I've never liked white cars ... I just usually end up with them because of the price or the deal. One thing about white, the color holds up better over the years. If you were going to have the car for 10 years, I would say, keep it. In the long run, you'll be happier with the paint. If your not, sell it and get the color you want.

I would just repaint your car if the color is that important. As far as navi goes I dont have it either and personally I dont want it. The HVAC seems to be a little easier to use than the one I had for a day, and you can get aftermarket units that are better anyways. I think you are in for a surpise when you go to trade it in or sell it privately. Mine has only 7,500 miles on it and when looking at a 04 TL they only offered me $22k.

A comparably loaded Bimmer to the G is 7-8K more. The 330 has been shown to not perform as well as the G. Handling, braking, acceleration. There's nothing in the G's price range for a coupe. You have to go up to a 300Ci, which is much more expensive, below the G, theres???? It's priced good, IMHO.
All the professionals seem to say that the interior is fine, but it's all subjective to the prospective buyer. I thought it was odd at first too, since there isn't one knob on the dash, it's all buttons. But there are zero gaps in the dash, not one rattle. Again, subjective....
The G is more sport than luxury, I'll give you that. But driving that car hard is nothing short of an adrenaline rush.
I'm just stating my opinion and nothing more. I'm glad you enjoy the CLS6. It's a wonderful car.

I personally dont exactly love the interior of the G35, but I would say it is at least of decent quality. Remember though, that for alot of northern folks a 6 speed RWD car with a decent amount of low end tq would not be extremely fun when there is packed snow on the ground. If you live in the south however, I would suggest the G35 every time over the CL-S6 if you can only afford one car and want it to be sporty & practical.
edit: And the 330Ci is a very nice car, but IMO kinda overpriced. Sure it has great handling/build/looks, but for close to $40k I will get a Cobra and deal with the slightly less substansive interior & refinement. Also, I'm sure the insurance is pricier on the BMW over the CL-S6 & G35.

btw engine tone of the j is smoother and more refined sounding than the VQ...not many can argue it isn't. the VQ is a bit thrashy.
not saying i'd take a CLS over a g35, but engine wise, i'll be the first to admit the j is smooth like butta!

I like both the G35- 6 and the CLS-6 , but when I sell my auto, CLS-6 it will be.
123456Speed, I hear ya on the color change. My CLS Is Taffeta White /parchment also, and I really want to change up to a SMR 6 speed.

I agree that the CLS's J is a more refined feeling and sounding engine that the Z/G35c's VQ, especially when reeved high, but I also agree with Darrinb that the exhaust note of the VQ in the Z/G35c is better.
I guess it comes down to if you like the brute power of the VQ or the smooth refined and yet also very powerful J32a

Don't get me wrong.. It's not bad by any means, and I like the torque and brute power of the VQ over the J32a, but the VQ isn't nearly as smooth as the J32a from up at ~5000+ rpm up IMO
