cls 6spd vs 6sp s2000
Wondering if any one else has tried this. My 6spd is stock except for icebox intake. Used to have headers, but got rid of them or they would have cost me my liscence. Slammed on brakes to get caught by a light after watching a s2000 weave through traffic . We both kind of eased off, but both were even when we punched it. I couldn't pull away from him very fast, but it was pulling, backed off at 3rd gear, but I really didn't expect it to be as quick as the S2000, but it was!

Don't s2ks have to be launched hard to achieve its fastest times?

Sounds to me like the s2k didn't use its biggest advantage, which is launch. I think from a roll the cars are much closer with the advantage going to the more powerful engine. although the s2k has other advantages the CLS' torque gives it a slight advantage I would think.

it should take a cl on the roll though (+15mph)
i think you have to drop it at like 5k or up to get an optimum launch, the 1/8th mile times suck, it makes up for it once it is riding all in the upper rpm's/mph, which is why its 1/4 times come back into check
I actually had a run-in with one on monday... We were about a 40MPH roll and both hit it 40-70 and we were dead even. It was a pretty new 04, middle aged guy with his gf. So they are pretty even, I have AEM CAI and a 6 speed
I think the one i raced had a turbo, that thing was neck to neck with me until we hit high speeds, i expected more from it.If my $4,000 88 car could keep up and walk from it i guess they really arent worth the price tag.I must admit i love the style.
i ran my friends s2k and we were dead even from a stop to 80. He has an cold air intake and i have headers and cold air on 01cls. He lunched it pretty good but I dont think it was from 5k. I also raced another s2k that sounded pretty stock and we were dead even up to 60.
Cls6 vs. s2000
it' funny this post came up...
last weekend going down miliken in ontario (CA) 1:30am. i ran an 04'
s2000 from a light. guy didn't know how to drive it yet. the s2000 initially jumped but it was like he popped the clutch at to low of rpm's. i jumped about a car length at launch. continued to pull grabbed second gear rubber and then let off the gas. and waited for him to catch up. as soon as he gained on me i hit the gas and kept him at my rear bumber to 95mph. the s2000 seemed to be faster on the top end then any of the 350z's i've encountered.

the s2k's are not known for their drag capabilities, ride in one with a stock suspension and you will quickly understand
