Click Sound near Shift Knob when Brakes Pressed
Hi... first time posting. I tried several searches for my "problem" but I haven't found anything yet.
I just recently got my 2001 CL Type S (automatic) back from Acura of Ocean NJ. They replaced the fuel injection (main) relay. Now I'm hearing a "click" sound that I never heard before. Whenever I press the brake, I hear a "click" from the area where the shift knob is located in the center of the car.
Any ideas what this noise is?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

If this only happened in Park, I would guess that click you are hearing is from the brake safe park switch (not sure if that is the correct name), which prevents the car from being out of Park without the brakes applied.
My best suggestion would be to take it back to them.

When I put my car into neutral when coming to a stop at a light I hear a click. If that's when it happens then it's similar to the brake safe switch TCM is talking about but is a switch that prevents you from throwing it into reverse or park while still rolling forward. I can barely hear it though. I guess they can adjust it so it won't be so loud?

It's normal. Mine does it to.

well, I finally figured out the problem yesterday while I was driving on the NJ State Parkway.
I am really angry at Acura of Ocean.
The click sound wasn't coming from the shift lock (well there is a click sound there too, which is normal)... but it turns I was actually hearing a secondary click sound at the same time that was coming from the area of my brake pedal. As I was driving on the parkway, I had to press the brakes because traffic was slowing down. When I hit the brakes the first time, I felt an obstruction. I quickly took my foot off the brake and then tried to apply them again. This time there was no obstruction, but something fell down and hit my foot. It was a FLASHLIGHT!!! The Acura service person who replaced my fuel injection relay must of wedged his flashlight up in that compartment while he was fixing my car, and he obviously forgot to take it out when he was finished. I/Acura was very fortunate that the obstruction to my brake pedal from the flashlight never caused an accident with potential serious / fatal injuries.
by the way... now that the flashlight fell down, I don't hear the louder click sound any more.
