Clearcoat?!

I'm reading that my new 03 CLS does NOT have a clearcoat?! Is this true? You'd think a $30K+ car would have clearcoat! What's the deal?! I guess it's off to www.zainobros.com!

I'd be curious as to where you read this too. Clearcoats are pretty standard...and have been for a while.....

Oh...my bad...it's not that it doesn't HAVE clearcoat...it's that the factory clearcoat sucks. That's what I was reading. At any rate...what do you guys suggest for a brand new CL? Should I have it clearcoated by a body shop, or should I just drop some loot for Zaino products? My ride is white, so I want to protect it the best that I can...

It does suck... so wax is a good way to go. I'd drop the cash on Zaino and take care of your car. If you do that then you should be in good shape!!

Oh and welcome aboard

Awe come on man

OK, so, you could have some shop put the 3m crap on for you or you could become a Zainoholic and wax the ever living shit out your car.

Just watch out for high winds...the paint will blow right off. Keep the car in the garage if the wind is greater than 15 mph....it's in the manual.

Oh, wait.....I mean I just heard the paint sucks!!!

Welcome aboard, man.

Haha

Are you kidding? I'd much rather do it myself, I just want to be sure that I'm give my car the best treatment possible. Even if a shop is much more money...if they do a better job...I'd pay. I'm reading great things abou Zaino though...sounds intriguing...

I heard a sales guy at Rick Case tell someone that white cars do not have a clearcoat. Cause if they did they would turn yellow. I butted in & told him he was wrong, & his comment didn't make any sense. He just moved the customer aside to his office, & didn't pay me no mind.
