Cl vs G35
Cl vs G35
So I'm sitting a the light at an expressway in San Jose and this dude about my age (35) comes up next to me in a 2004-5 G35 four door. I assume they have the same engines as the G35 coupes? Maybe a little heavier? Anyway, we exchanged glanses, I slipped it into sportshift mode and then it was on. We took off at the same time and I had him by half a car length the entire time from 0-50 then at about 60 we were neck and neck for a few (this is when I thought I bit off more than I could chew) but no, to my surprise, I started to pull away again, this time I had a full car length on him by 80. I know he was still trying because I could hear his engine screaming. I let him pass at 100 and just gave him the thumbs up. i.e. good race mate.
The G35 sedans from 03 - 04 get a 260hp / 260 ft-lbs 3.5L VQ engine. I'm not sure if its their gearing or what, but the autos are neck and neck with the TL-S/CL-S up to 100mph. The 6 speeds are obviously faster than the 5AT TL-S / CL-S.
The G35 sedans for 05 get a 298hp / 260 ft-lbs 3.5L VQ engine in the 6 speeds, and a 280hp / 270 ft-lbs 3.5L VQ in the autos. I don't know the exact specs on the '05 but it should be faster than the 5AT TL-S / CL-S. Not 100% sure though.
Good kill though!

Thanks for the sepcs on the G35. I suppose I could have looked them up myself... Based upon what Ijust read, I don't think I'll be taking on the 05 coupe any time soon
BTW: my car is an 01 CLS w/no mods to it.
