Which CL Type-S Should I buy?

I'd like your opinon...currently looking at three cars...all are 2003 Acura CL 3.2 Type-S, all are six-speed manual trans, none have navi...

$22,588, 32,623 miles, Acura Certified, Aegean Blue

$24,995, 24,873 miles, Not certified, Anthracite Gray

$19,995, 44,000 miles, Acura Certified, Silver

Do any of these cars strike you as a better deal than the others?

Thanks!

anthricite is teh hot, but if you want navi, go w/ the ABP. A CF hood/trunk combo on an ABP is smoking f'ing hot Either way, its big time ups for you man! Finding three 6spd'ers in your area is crazy :wow:

if money isnt an option i would go with the anthracie or Agean.... i have a silver CL and its so plain IMO...unless of course you have some sort of exterior mod that spices it up a little...but stock to stock the anthracite is my fav 2nd being agean

cltypeSLOW: thanks...noticing your name there...and under it "craving boost..." - would you steer me away from the CL Type-S altogether? Do you think the car is "slow" or low on boost? Does the six speed make up for lack of boost?

I'm biased toward the anthracite, 03 was the only year this color was made in the CL. I think blue was offered other years but it's pretty rare too, silvers are everywhere. Certified is good as it adds another year to warranty but covers only mechanicals.

I had a white/parchment CLS 6MT and realized it was the wrong color combo for me and got the anthracite. I got Navi too cause I wanted a loaded one and it is even rarer and more sought after. The rarest of all is the white w/black interior. Red with black interior is pretty rare on the 6MT too and looks great IMO.

I got a good deal on mine, $24,500 7500 miles, 1.5 years ago. had clear bra, mudflaps, wheel locks, spoiler, roof visor.

Have fun making a choice.

Without Navi, I wouldn't want to pay more than $20k for one now.

Even tho sought after, seems like CLS 6MTs can sit quite a while on the lots, local TX dealer had a red/tan one for months. It has 50k miles, I think they were asking $24k certified. Most people seem to like the black interior better, including myself, hate the fake wood look.

psychoRN: thanks for the feedback...can you elaborate as to why you feel that way about Acura Certification?

Regarding the prices: in the part of the USA where I live, those are pretty normal prices...NYC metro area. Even breathing air is expensive around here...good luck buying a house let alone a nice ride....rediculous.

I had a Silver CLS before my Agean... and I have to tell you that it was a hell of a lot easier to keep looking nice. The Agean is a beautiful colour, but a lot of work to keep up.

Any small marks (door dings, swirls etc) will be very visible on the non silver models.

i bought my car certified, and yeah its good to know that everything (except for wear and tear) is covered for a year, but after that year you're kinda screwed? i've already gotten small things fixed and its good to know that if something needs fixing u dont feel the need to ... because its covered! so if that's the deciding factor, i don't think it's too big of a difference. maybe someone else has a different point of view.

and i hear you about living in NYC, my insurance for my 1990 celica for liability only was 50% more than what i pay now here in LA for full coverage on my CL. gas prices... thats a different story. plus MTA isn't going anyone's way out here so u dont have an option.

Definately, definately not the $24k one, thats overpriced. not even
(navi/certification)

The other 2:
$22,588, 32,623 miles, Acura Certified, Aegean Blue
$19,995, 44,000 miles, Acura Certified, Silver

If color is not a determining factor - then is 12k less miles worth $2,500?

I'd personally go for the cheaper one cause i'm cheap .
I got mine with navi for $18.5k (non-cert, 51k miles) back in june.

All depends as far as the certification goes... If you put a lot of miles on the car, the "certified" warranty will be gone in no time anyway...However if you put <15,000 miles a year, you may want to go certified.
As far as Colors go.. My two favorite colors are San Marino red, and Aegean Blue pearl.

CLS-6 is an awesome car, so as long as it's got 6 gears and in good condition, you can't go wrong
Bump those prices down a little though

I'd go with the Blue... Anthracite is another color that has grown on me tho'.

I've always said that a certified car (with an extended warranty) is worth more to me, but the Anthracite one for $25K is a little high.

If you're going to go the non-certified route, you might as well just try to find a private car for sale. With the mileage on the cars you're looking at, the dealers probably just did a decent detail job on them and that's it.

For $25k I'd take a San Marino Red..... 06 Accord V6 coupe 6spd.

I got my SMR 05 Accord EX-V6 w/spoiler for $25,125 and at the time they had a 6spd for the same price and color combo. Maybe not this kind of a deal on 06s yet, though.

But if it has to be the CL, see how much you can talk them down. They're usually really flexible with prices on these cars. I had a black/black 03 CL-S6 with 30k miles offered to me for $21k certified a year ago. They were asking $25995 so that was quite a decrease.

the tan interior.... I know many have it, but not a big fan of it. You can find them cheaper.
I am thinking about selling my silver 03 6speed to pursue a business dream I have. I was thinkin 18.5k with 45k miles on it, for silver/black, and 20k with 20in rims. But I love this car, so I dunno know what to do...One thing is forsure, I will buy another if I decide to sell when i can afford another.. Drive some other cars and you will relize how smooth the cl is espically the gear box, good smooth power, compared to other cars in this price range...

I prefer the ABP and SMR, both look great. I have had the opportunity of owning both. SSM is bland, everyone and their mom has one....it's like a civic, focus, corolla or mustang IMHO....
Go with the ABP, it's hot as hell. I have had tons of ppl compliment it. The only problem is that dirt shows up pretty badly, so be prepared to clean that b!tch a lot.
Those prices seem kinda high, especially considering there is no navi, see if you can get them in the high 19s or low 20s. Do they have spoilers?

Smitty, you forgot to include the mileage in your sigline... 17,000 miles is low mileage and makes your car very attractive

And the winner is....

ABP. But in the end it was an analytical decision...I wanted to go with the lower milage car and there were some sort of sketchy issues with the silver one. The ABP car was a more "comfortable" purchase. The Anthracite car was just out of my price range. Now to go to the store get lots of car cleaning supplies.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts...helped me through the decision a great deal. Looks like I'll probably be back here often now that I'm officially a member of the club.

Aegean Blue for sure.

But throw out the non Certified to make decisions easier. Why would you chose a non Certified when you can get a Certified and have some assurances....
