CL-Type S & E36 M3
CL-Type S & E36 M3
Hello, I would just like to comment on some of the posts here claiming out racing M3's. I hope everyone here is man enough to admit that although the CL-Type S is a great car in its own right(Honda Reliability, Luxurious ..etc), it cannot "take-out" an m3.
Anyways, just to let you know i am planning on purchasing either an M3, or a CL-Type S. My smart senses are telling me to invest in the reliability of a CL-Type S, while my irrational side is telling me to purchase a slightly sportier M3. Who knows .. will be looking into both sometime soon. Take care!

Just looked, but didn't see a single post about anybody racing an M3
If you could, could you please post which threads you are talking about. Thanks.
Saw one about trying to race an M5:
http://www.acura-cl.com/cgi-bin/ubbc...type=&number=3
And one about racing a 3-series:
http://www.acura-cl.com/cgi-bin/ubbc...type=&number=3
The only mention of an M3 that I found was in here:
http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000009.html
And those were by 2 members who have hella mods, that for the most part would give any M3 a run for its money.
On you decison between the M3 and the CL-S, we would all recommend the CL-S, for the reasons you mentions, and with the buttload of money you save, buy some headers and a CAI and whoop that M3!!

Don't forget that the M3 can be chipped easily (dinan) and even if the CL-S is supercharged I think the M3 E36 can still beat the CL-S.

i beat an m3 i think it was a 96 3.0 motor
not the 3.2

Not to knock our cars but I have been on some road courses with E36 M3's and although we can fend them off out of a turn on a straight (cause we held em up in the turn) there is no way we're hanging with them in the twisty sections (they are cornering on 3 wheels while our cars plow). I wouldn't assume we could take an E30 M3 either for that matter, they match up seemingly identical on the track as I have seen from the passenger side of a 98 E36. 5000 foot straight coming out of a hairpin, an E30 and E36 (we were following the two) side by side the whole way and the E36 ended up taking the turn because the E30 lifted to let him in.
Now an E36 Auto would be a perfect match-up I would think for a lowered CL-S with the brembo kit and a beefier rear sway bar.

Sorry to say bro, you can't whoop a '96 M3. The 3.0 engine was in the '95 not the '96. Also its output was the same in regards to horsepower. If you did beat the guy, then he must really have been a rookie. I would love to own a '95 M3 3.0. All modifications on that year of M3 is so easy to get so much more power, much more than the '98 ///M3 I own. Well just my 2 cents worth...

Funny that you should mention selling the M. I'm on the list for a new e46 M3 and will probably be selling the 99 this summer, depending on when the "new" M3 gets here. I'll let ya know, if you're really interested.
