CL-S Spoiler

How much did you get it for and was it worth it?

Also, does it obstruct much of your rear view?

I am SO glad I bought the spoiler afterwards...it doesn't obstruct any view and it is aesthetically WAY better. $600 sounds about right...

I feel it enhances the view out back. The trunk lid is hidden by the rear shelf. So without the spoiler, I'd have no idea where the tail of my car is. The spoiler makes it a lot easier to back up in tight parking lots.

You can get the OEM wing from A&H Motorsport and save some $$$.

http://www.ahmotor.com/product/ahmcat3.htm

or

You can get an aftermarket wing from Sportwing and really save!

I got mine from the dealer for the A&H price (479.20).The parts man said he would match the price ,rather than loose the business.
The dealer charged 112.50 to install.
If I had it to do over again, I would spend the money on something else. Now I like the no-wing look better.

I've been contemplating getting a wing for about 3 months now! I just can't get myself to pay the $400+ to add something that's only cosmetic, and minor at that. I spent about the same for my springs, but they have a definite purpose! I doubt I will ever get the wing now, the car looks really good with springs and no spoiler at all.

I got mine tossed in on the deal at the last minute. However I had them give it to me in a box and I sold it on ebay.
I think that it spoils the look of a very subtle symmetrical design.
Just my opinion. I am kind of a 'form follows function' person.
Sometimes something looks good at a quick glance, but after study it wears on you. That's how the CLS spoiler looks to me.
Although on the Black car it seems ok. Mybe because the lines of the car are less evident in black.

The spoiler should help at higher speeds.. will sort of push the car downward. If you don't plan on making lots of mods, I would recommend the spolier. I had to drive off with my car before the spoiler and then bring it back and have them put the spoiler on so I got to check out both ways.. I liked it w/o the spoiler, but I LOVED it w/.. My roommate agreed, as did my brotehr and my mom. The spoiler just rounds out the sportiness of it all. W/o the spoiler it just seems like something is missing, like the edge just sort of falls off.. It is of course all a matter of personal preference, but I do prefer it w/.

I didn't get the spoiler. It makes the CL-S lose its distinct styling from the rear.
I guess if you really want to join the "I have a spoiler on my hyundai/civic/daewoo/saturn/solara so it looks like it goes faster" club then spend the money on the spoiler. Do you still get a free pair of fuzzy dice and cheap sunglasses with every spoiler purchase??

The should have offered one of those low profile lip spoilers that don't sit above the trunk deck. That would look nice on the CL-S.

i have a satin silver, and i have yet to see a satin silver type-s with a spoiler. i agree that the spoiler looks really good on a black CL, and i have seen one on a red--- it is gorgeous. my silver one would have to wait until i see someone with it on, then i'll decide.

Ooh. The one from Sportwing is cheap! And it looks just like stock. Can anyone attest to the quality of this Sportwing spoiler?

I got my spoiler from Sportwing.com. I gave them my color code and they matched my paint VERY well. It took about an hour to install (came w/ templates).

I like the Sportwing spoiler more than the stock one because there are more curves on the bottom of it. At the last CL meet, everybody agreed that the Sportwing spoiler looks better.

And it much cheaper!!!!!!!1

I've seen a lot of silver CLs with spoilers here in Atlanta. Looks nice. It doesn't cut the lines or anything, looks nice and clean.

I take it the spoiler is a dealer installed option. I'm wondering that since the spoiler isn't part of the car, if the actual painting method of the spoiler differs from the rest of the car.

My question being, is the quality of the paint job from the stock spoiler better than the one from Sportwing?

I think red and black CL-S's look the best with spoilers. Especially the red. That is why I'm getting one installed on my red CL-S. However, I think the gold looks best without it and I think the white and silver look a litte better without it. However, all look good with or without in my opinion.

I didn't get the spoiler when I got the car because I liked the way it looked with and without. I decided to wait a few months and then decide. I've decided that I do indeed want the spoiler.

Don't worry Shawn, your CL-S will still be unique in S.E. PA with the gold trim. I've yet to see a CL on the road yet with gold trim.

Who cares about weight or functionality? This isn't a track car it's a street car.
