The CL-S is Here to STAY!!!

I decided to keep the CL around, figuring mostly that it is an excellent 2nd car to have around and I would miss her too much If I sold it.

For those that sold your CL recently, whether for a trade or otherwise, do you miss the car because I know I would. And for the money it just makes sense because you can't go out and get much else in the mid luxo-coupe market for 20+ New. And like I said:

I LUV MY CL- S...

I didn't want to just dump mine, I looked at the car for what its worth vs. what it would sell for and knew it would be best to keep her in the stable.

I love the Audi too, but the CL-S with headers has a bit more fun factor for when I want to cut loose once and awhile

I don't think anyone on this board has dumped their six speeder. It's a different beast. We love it!

Cool..

I'm keeping mine too.. I don't owe anything on it, so I would just loose to much money if I trade it in.

...but my 2003 is more then a year old. The model year began in March 2002, go figure . I know that some have already dumped their 2002s that were only a few months older then mine.

Nice garage BTW .

i loved my CL-S, it was a head-turner and it was pretty fast (my best was a 14.3@99 with only headers)

however, as ive mentioned in other threads, the ownership was just too bittersweet. the tranny issue is such a cluster fucked nightmare (granted, i never had a tranny problem, but it seemed to be only a matter of time. additionally, the frequent trips to the dealer for persistant rattles was very tiresome and annoying. i wouldve never imagined that the CL-S would be such a rattling freak. i could list about 10-20 different rattles that were either intermittent or persistant. thats just unacceptable for a 30k import (well, its not really an import, but still....)

my 1996 camaro had less rattles, my 2000 dodge ram has no rattles, my 1997 blazer had fewer rattles, i just dont understand what it is about the CL-S that makes it sooooo prone to rattles. and i know the vast majority here can agree.

one of the factors for me was that between all the rattles and the tranny worries and horror stories, i just could no longer justify paying out of my ass for a car. if that car wouldve been more pleasurable to own (i.e. no monthly trips to the dealer for rattles and no tranny worries) id still have it, because without those downfalls, its easy to justify owning and paying for one.

some may laugh at the fact that i went from a brand new acura CL-S to a 2000 Dodge Ram, but i now have a vehicle whos tranny isnt on the verge of self-distruction. additionally, it doesnt rattle, the insurance is 700 less per year, my payments are 160 less per month, and mods are cheap as fuck. also having the truck bed comes in handy for moving crap around or bringing home new toys. for example, it was nice to load my new widescreen tv right in the truck the day i bought it instead of having to wait a week for it to get delivered.

sure, i miss the CL-S, i miss spanking faggot rice boys around, i miss doing 140, i miss the looks i got in that car, but getting rid of it was the most logical and financially intelligent thing ive done in quite awhile.

Yup, that is the way to be. The CL is not too much to insure, waranty is on for another 2 years and the infamous tranny is covered for 7yr/100,000, etc.,etc. And I HATE trading in, its such a bad spot to be in, they see you want a new car so naturally they SCREW YOU TO THE WALL on the trade. :P

I see what your saying on the model years. My CL is a late 2001 model.
The only ones who let the six-speed go were those in some sort of hardship no doubt.

I see your point, and I used to worry about the tranny too, but now I'm just saying to hell with it, just drive it with no worries.

Fact is, something wrong could occur in any car. BTW, Truck transmissions have been known before to have problems too, not that yours will. You gotta live life though.

I've been debating whether to trade mine in for something else as well but have decided to keep the CL. I have about 45k miles on it and it runs pretty well. I actually like it more and more. Sure there are newer and better cars out there but they really aren't good enough for me to swap. What I have in my over 3 year old car are new features in some 2003/2004 cars.

This is the "oldest" car I ever owned and I'll keep it and use it as my commuter car when I get a convertible in 2-3 years.

As with rattles, I have my share of them but the quieter the car is the rattles are more noticeable. Someone mentioned here that a Blazer has less rattles, could it be that you just can't hear them because it's a noisier/less insulated car ? (not to start anything here, just thought I ask)
