CL-S 6 speed is an awesome machine
Was reminded again as I drove back on Highway 1 today and pretty much passed and out-handled everyone else on the road. Amazing power even in 6th at 85mph on straightaways. Considering how big the car is and it being FWD it just stuck to the road like it was on rails. Only thing non-stock are the tires... Continential Extreme Contacts on all four corners.
What a shame that driving it kills it eventually.

I'm sure the 6-speed is great but I'm an old man and I'm tired of shifting gears. Actually, I haven't even used my sport shift in quite a while. I only need it because the new tranny acts squeamish at highway speeds when I floor it in automatic mode.
I love my car but what astonishes me the most is how quiet and smooth this car is. No matter how much I've abused this car it still idles like its brand new. Even though I have a 12 inch sub in the trunk I haven't turned it up in days. I just love hearing that electromagnetic, UFO-sounding hum while idling at a traffic light.

Love my 6-speed too. No need to take it outta 6th to pass people on the highway (bothers the heck outta me when I let a friend drive and they shift into 5th every time to do so). I'm getting around 28mpg mixed driving right now. Love the car.
I too love my CL-S.
Esp. since I put Tanabe suspension on it mine rocks down the highway and on turns.
I have 83K on mine now..and I'm dreading the day I will have to see it (might sell in a year) because of the auto tranny.
I'm still on my original..and i'm waiting anyday for it to go.
I havn't had any problems what so ever.

I have to admit, it's grown on me as well, coming from the Prelude, which I though was a heavy car, to a car that weighs roughly 600 additional lbs, I was skeptical of it's ability to pick up speed and corner. However, so far I've been pleasantly surprised, while I still wish the gearing was a little more aggressive it does have decent power throughout the entire RPM range in every gear so far. As far as cornering goes, the guy before me put on some OmniPower Street coilovers and it handles really well, better than the Prelude in fact, I'm still looking to even the weight distribution a little bit but all in all, for a semi-luxury fwd coupe, it is in fact quite competent. Can't wait to see what it can do with some bolt-ons and maybe a little shot of nitrous

^^
I wish, I work for them, I get to drive them, they don't come home with me at night. I would honestly take a Cayman S over a Carrera, they are just a better handling car.
Maybe next summer.

Prelude shout out
I too enjoyed a lude for a while prior to my CL-s6! It kind of makes sense that those who liked the prelude would gravitate to the CL. Who's down with throwing some prelude pics up-I'd love to show mine off.
Oh, and so as not to hijack, I adore my CL. Truly a great vehicle. My only complaint is that it didn't come stock with fogs.

While it is still in running condition, my lude is pretty damn ugly at this point..... no one wants to see pictures of it. The front end is a rolling advertisement for clear bra and at 157K it's starting to show those rust spots where the rear bumper meets the wheel well.
always loved the 5th gen lude, trying to pick on up this summer for my girl... its going to be fun =D
this is my first car i bought so i can't compare it to any of my previous cars. but damn when i take it to angela's crest.... i let her rip the corners esp. after my sway bars.... damn it handles so well

I am thoroughly convinced the CL-S6 is one of the most underrated cars on the road.
Everyday I am reminded how much I love this damn car. It's so smooth, so quick, sounds amazing... perfect balance of performance and luxury. Throw in a little Aegean Blue Pearl paint and you've got yourself a damn fine machine.

I really have nothing but rave reviews for my auto CL-S. I know everyone here gets a hard on for the 6-speed, but sometimes people just don't feel the need for it.
I drive 40k a year, all highway and I get about 27-30mpg driving around 85mph and its silky smooth even with 150,000 miles on the car.
Also, my tranny actually shifts extremely smooth with no issues. (knock on wood)
Yes Infiniti has surpassed Acura in terms of performace, but at what expense. My fiancee has a G35X and on the highway she only gets around 23-24mpg because of the gearing.
I still can't find many cars on the road that have around 250hp, get 30mpg, and feel confident at high speeds without a second though that can be got for around $10,000 like the CL-S can be.

I have to agree that this is truly a fine machine. I look forward to driving it every single day of the week, and I miss it when I'm away. IMHO, shifting those gears is comparable to sex. BTW, I shift into 4th on the highways to pass, not because I need it but because I am addicted to the sound of VTEC.

These kids in their teens and early twenties kill me complaining about the CL-S when comparing this car to an 07-08 SRT-4 or an SRT-8, BMW and turboed cars.
"I raced a [insert larger displacement, higher end, more expensive, later model car here] and got owned."
No shit, dumbass.
Or worse:
"I raced a [insert larger displacement, higher end, more expensive, later model car here] and owned that car. All I have is CAI and XS headers."
Yeah, right. Let it go.
