Hmm sounds cool... BUT, question... WHY? Why spend soo much money and time on a J32 motor... yes, its a TypeS motor, BUT, it aint like day and night.... or does it worth that much time and effort for it? since Accord aint too much lighter in weight either, maybe couple hundreds LBS, but thats about it... I mean its a cool projects.. but for me, i would rather spend those money on SC or custom turbo, or NOS... and you get better result than TypeS motor in Accord.... I would say YEA (if it fit), into a 2500lbs car, like Civic or something like that, but on a full size 4door car.... hmm..... nice job i guess!

Nice job , but $8k can go a long way with turbo/engine work/tranny especially with their low CR.

I guess he should have research it further about just doing the 3.5 upgrade.

huh, neat...

sounds like he got a bad engine though... that sucks.

he should have put the 3.5L in.

he says he spent $8k... I dunno about that. Unless he got screwed on the used engine & tranny combo. $2500 for engine, and I wouldn't pay more than $5 for our transmission

You can easily find both for $4000 or less on www.car-parts.com

Be interesting to see what he'll run...

wha? i have to disagree....

why? I agree that it seems like a lot of work and $$$ for little gain. I guess it's a difference school of thought, I'd rather go FI then marginally increase the displacement and get a higher CR out of it.

Wouldn't you do a compression test on the engine before putting it in the car? Wouldn't you want to make sure the engine was good before doing all that work? $8K+ just to be different. That's crazy!

Hmmmmm.....$8k for 60 hp = $133/hp.:sqnteek: You really want to be different when for a little more than half that you could strap on a Comptech supercharger and produce more hp.

I assume he also swapped in the 5-Speed automatic as the ECU wouldn't be happy controlling that 4-Speed auto in the AV6. So obviously it is more than just an engine swap.

Although this is about twice as much as just adding the blower to the J30A motor while netting about the same power. He will have the benefit of the more aggressive gearing from the 5-Speed automatic which should make him quicker than a blown AV6. Plus it is unique and apparently the car is paid for so why not.

Scalbert hit it right on the head... For one, and most important in car tuning, its unique. He is the 1st known with the swap. As posted by bryanz3.0cl, there is a Av6 SC/6spd and he's not talking bout the latest gen AC. Its a 6th gen with an S 6spd. If you were to see a CL-S 6spd SC and a 6th gen AC 3.2typeS 6spd blown who deserves more respect or lets say more hats off too? Obviously the AC had more work and time put into it. Finding the motor and tranny is NOT easy. Then Finding someone to swap it without raping you. So what if it cost him 8g's.. Its originality thats the most important tuning concept. Everybody used to say no the 6spd tranny wouldnt swap into the auto AC/CL-1st gen but its been done as stated earlier. The thread is on v6performance.net, straight bolt on. Ofcourse with the necessay ecu, axels. And who knows how much he paid for his car, apparently its paid off. If your gona build a car its best to start with something really cheap. Maybe he payed sqaut for his car and dumping 8 grand was cheaper than buying a CL-S and then the blower... All in all good swap and MAD props for being UNIQUE..

Sounds like it would have been easier and less $$$ to go out and just buy a CL. That’s definitely unique.

I actually have a buddy who is currently in the process of doing the same thing. He's currently installing the j32a and auto tranny into is 2001 accord coupe. he's got the headers, intake and an exhaust, and is looking at about 295hp on his 3100lb accord. Not bad if you ask me. He only paid $5500 for the engine and tranny, and he's a mechanic so he's doing all the work himself.

The only thing bad about the deal is our trans is a focking POS. I would be hesitant to do it.

Or have a stack of auto trans(s)...

$8k is BS, unless he paid someone else to do it. Ricer $$ conversion.
