CL-P Drivers?

Just trying to figure out how many of us are in the minority...

I decided against the Type S because of my tendency to speed.

Actually the CL-p is more rare around here. All I ever see are CL-S's. Plus I didn't want the harsh S ride. Ever notice it's only the S people who complain of rattles. As far as power I look at it like this, how often in your daily driving have you ever floored it and thought, damn, I need more power. How often to you floor it at all? Rarely. Plus as I always say, you can only go as fast as the person in front of you, which is usually some chugging diesel dump truck or some clapped out car running on two cylinders. Total frustration. So I concentrate on more important things like finding a good radio station with my steering wheel switch.

I actually preferred the look of the interior in the CL-P. It is much more luxurious looking in my opinion. I don't really care for the perforated seats or the red accents "type S" accents. Nonetheless, my plans are far from performance oriented, so it would have been a waste for me to start with a Type-S. I think the CL-P is boring looking stock. The wheels and superswamper tires kill the look of the car. I've had a few regrets, but they're usually short lived. They're both great cars. Losts of people just refer to the CL-P as a base model, but considering all it has to offer, I don't think that's a fair comment.

I'm more than happy with the CL-P I have. I was seriously considering the S, but I didn't have the extra money, and I'll probably never use everything the Premium has anyway. I drive all back roads to work (45mph speed limit tops) and even when I do drive highway, it does 85 very, very smoothly. It handles just fine for me, and as was mentioned earlier, I actually prefer the non-perforated seats myself. If I ever want more power, I won't have trouble getting it from all the mods I've seen being done on this board. I'm just happy to have a nice reliable, well built car after the Grand Am I got rid of.

I love my CL-P. Unfortunately I still have the rattles. But my last car was a camry .. I rent a POS american car every week when I travel. So coming home and driving my car on the weekends is exhilirating! I mean the power is plenty!

Though every now and then I catch myself imagining ... if my CL-P can get me sprung the way she does, what would happen to me if I had CL-S under me

I just got the Cl-P at 17 years old as my second car. I had a V6 Alero for the first 20 months of driving. My dad did however get it for me as long as a new apartment and paying for college which I thank him for but didn't want the S just as the added risk of more speed and more power I guess not trusting a young driver. But what I Hear is the ride is a little smoother and almost as quick. Correct me if i'm wrong as I won't be driving my car till I get down to Arizona on July 2nd. Thanks, Anthony

I too got the cl-p as my second car on my 17 birthday about a year ago now. I had a 91 4 door legend before it. Great car, just got to the point where it was starting to fall into more money to fix then it was worth sidrome. As far as the interior goes... the cl-p is much nicer.. now "dark wood"

Damn, when I was 18 I walked to school as a senior and no one believed that I'd ever get a car. But then I hit 19 and made more dough than a bakery and bought a used 92 accord, then hit 20 and got a used 96 integra, then hit 21 and got a new 99 accord and now 22 with a 01 CL. But my girlfriend wants me to sell them all for a mercedes

little late on my response...but i also got a CLP...i dunno if im alone on this one but i sure wish i had the CLS...anything faster is good for me and didint get it cuz the CLS wasnt out when i got the CLP...had a 4 month waiting list ...so the dealer told me until i realized it was really 2 months later isaw them on the road...but oh well..I think what kills me the most is that they get liek twice the gains as us on the exact same modified parts...specifically headers..

INCORRECT sir.

I too wanted to buy the Cl-P version, mainly because I like the look of solid leather instead of perf. And the price. I am notta speed demon (anymore), however, after test driving two CL-Ps. (parchment and black) I came to the disgusted conclusion that I didn't want a CL anymore. Salesman inquiry of course was 'why?'

Too noisy, too buzzy, and braked like my nana's old ANTIQUE 72 mercedes with only 40k miles. It felt okay on back roads, but the concrete roads in PA,,,forget it..I told the salesamn I would go back to Lexus and talk with them again...He told me to try the CL-S, so I did. He rode along each time, and this time he acknowledged what I suspected..that the sporty suspension model (TYPE-S) has more sound deadening materials in it somewhere. Road noise was a minimum, and there was no buzzy road, suspension, or tire noise on our 'standard and unusually crappy hiways' in Pennsylvania. On the backroads the three cars were pretty identical except for the BRAKES on the TYPE-S seemed to stop with more authority and zero ABS intervention. And yes..I drove the car hard, soft, sporty, leisurely, and like a madman. The Type-S won hands down except for the leather perf. I bought it anyway. I can cope with holes in the leather, since I know I will end up putting a few there myself..lol
And while everyone here in my town has a TL or CL, there are only a few of the TYPE-S version here (for now).

Notta

I'm beginning to think you guys are just spoiled. Road noise? Squeaks? Noise? Shit. I'm used to how a Camaro sounds so to me my CL-P is incredibly quiet. It all depends on what you're used to. The CL-P is a great car. I'll be happy with it for quite some time once I get this shitty stereo out.

Oh yeah, and I'm the only one around me so far that I've seen with a CL-P. I've seen any number of CL-S cars, but no other CL-P's that I can remember.

true, it all depends on what you are used to. Like I said earlier, I had a 98 Camry, and that car had fewer rattles than a car that costs a good 10K more. Yes the CLs is mucho quietero .... ON SMOOTH roads, on freshly paved highways and such .... however, take the CL and the Camry to a street with potholes and bumps .. and CL rattles worse than a neon. I am not talking about the engine, I'm talking about the interior, structural rattles. The engine is heavenly quiet, I mean I love the murmur, it is almost hypnotic!

nuff said tho, I was trying to make a point ... but stepping away from the interior rattles. EVERYTHING else and I am not lying, for me, EVERYTHING else justifies every dollar I spent!

I can tell from that statement that you've never been to Pennsylvania. I don't think we have roads without potholes and bumps, seriously! I drive all backroads to work, almost all of them without shoulders, so you know they aren't in the best of shape. No problems at all to me. If there are squeaks and such, I don't notice them after some of the cars I've owned.
