CL on ICE in DFW
I live in north Dallas...and there is about 2 inches of ice on the roads now. Made a quick run to the grocery store and I gotta say the CL handled great on ice with stock tires. I think the combination of the traction control + heavy front end makes it ideal for bad conditions. Anyways...y'all drive safe out there.

Snow pic
Yup...I am originally from the Seattle area and Texans CANNOT drive in bad weather. I am sure businesses and schools will be closed for weeks....this probably would not even phase east coast people. Here is a pic from my driveway...that is gf's Accord...CL is safe and sound in garage.

Told me the same thing when I tried to attach a pic a while ago...how are people posting pics that look so good if they are supposedly less than 1 byte which (unless I am totally wrong) REALLY small?

"Up North" here they actually plow snow on the roads and put down salt for ice and such. In fact, here in Chicago, the roads are paved in salt from about November to April. Generally, they have salt trucks and plows sitting on the side of the road and ready to roll hours in advance of any hint of snow.
In other words, Dallas has no clue how to deal with any of it. Moving back up north could actually help.

Drivin in snow and driveing on ice are two different animals. I haven't seen any one that can drive on a sheet of ice. Besides the are more northern people living in Dallas than there are people born and raised in Texas.

Took the car out just to see how the re730's (summer, rain tire) handled the ice,,, well they didn't,, when the tires are cold it was like four ice cubes (ice circles??) running across flat ice,, not able to turn much or stop,,, once they got a little warmed up it was much like driving on bias ply tires I learned on in Chicago,, dating myself here but it was in the early 70's,,, just have to wait a couple of days for the mid 60's temp to return

I have to say "thanks" for ABS and VSA...I drove home yesterday afternoon from downtown Fort Worth which is a 35 mile commute and had absolutely no problems. I don't have good comparisons for handling in the ice, though. My previous cars were a RWD Supra and Z-28 both auto and they were terrible in the ice/snow.
A couple times when no one was around, I hit the gas and braked hard to see what it would do. VSA worked perfect and straightened out the car without me doing much.
Fender - I even went back out to Sonic on Denton Tap around 7:00 to get dinner. The CL drove great, although I did take it easy. The west side of town seemed worse than the east side (I live right off MacArthur).
I am also enjoying a snow day today but took my laptop PC home to do some work. :P

Hey Fender - I might take you up on that! My husband just found out that his work will be closed tomorrow. I won't know until the morning about my work closing. Our garage is in back (alley) and it just melted enough to freeze back and it's now solid ice. So I will be taking a vacation day if my company is not closed and working from home.
Take care if you get out tomorrow - I thought I had the long commute!
