CL is built like a tank

I went out earlier this evening to go see my girl. On the way there, it was pouring rain, I mean really coming down hard!

I get on the Bronx River Pkwy and get into my right lane to catch the exit, as I am approaching doing about 45 I see this HUGE pothole. This thing had at least a 2ft diamter and about 5 to 6 inches deep. I noticed it too late and WHAMMO I hit it dead on. I thought my wheel was gonna come off. Every imaginable profanity came out of my mouth as I continued to exit.

As I come off the exit, it seems that I wasnt the only car that hit it. There were about 6-7 cars all pulled over with flat tires and bent rims. There were also about 2 or 3 tow trucks helping them all out and assisted them with tire changes.

I pulled over just to double check my wheel, and to my surprise there was ZERO damage! My alignment wasn't even affected!
As I was getting back into my car a tow truck drives up and he tells me "Hold on, i'll change your tire for you....$50!!!" I laughed and told him "No i'm fine". He drove away.
These guys were like vultures, just sitting at the exit waiting for damaged cars to come rolling in.

On my way back home a few mins ago, I looked over at the southbound lanes where the hole was and there was a cop with flares blocking the lane waiting for the DOT to come repair it assume.

I can only assume that the extra rubber on the stock 16's I am still riding on helped alot! I would have been pissed if I had aftermarket rims. This is the main reason I have not upgraded wheels yet. This area is like a mine field.

Go Acura for building this thing like a tank!

I dropped off the side of pavement today at about 10mph about 5inches or so, kinda funny...the cars behind me just sat there waiting for the car to turn.

Yeah, the New York roads suck the worst. Its pretty bad farther north too in Mass, Maine, etc... I think it's because of the colder weather, therfore harder frost and more snow, plus less traveled roads and lack of funds.

Here is a visual. On the very right lane right on the overpass with all of those dips.

w00t!

(it is possible for the alignment to be messed up with out you being able to tell. right? not all alignment problems result in the car drifting, i do believe)

cool, glad that you and the care made it through safely,

but to play it safe, keep an eye out for bubbles in your tire because impacts like that cause bubbles.

and here in Louisiana, our roads are complete shit anyway. For example hit this fucking crater in a road one time. measured approx 10 ft diameter 7 ft at it's widest , and about 8 inches deep. This was still when I had my Eclipse GS, and they are pretty low to the groud as it is. It was dark and you honestly could not really see the damn thing. Needless to say my front bumper and side skirts were fuxored.
