Chromed headers before and after
Trending Topics
they are stainless... the first picture is normal use... you could of just polished them and after each car wash rub them down with some polish.... If you ever get a blower you will not see the headers anyways..
the chrome will peel over time from the heat.
but HEY, it looks great !!..

keep us posted on how they hold up. i dont think chrome headers has been done before, so this is interesting. personally i think its a waste of money unless this is to go in a show car.
I'll keep you guys posted on how they last. The plating company who plated them claimed they will outlast the car, but we'll see. I don't see how they would flake considering tons of harleys and other vehicles have chromed headers and pipes which never corrode under worst environmental conditions...

I'm sure thy will wear a bit, but can't be too bad if they were done right. Just make sure you keep em clean.
you spendin lots o money with this engine replacement and all.

But thank god, everything worked out. Well, that's if I won't need a lot of custom tuning and EU...

Take pics when you have them installed.

Chrome plating doesnt not rust but it will flake and chip depending on the heat and conditions its put under. It is also seceptable to corrosion but not rusting. The material is used comonly on bike frames ( solid ) or plating used on license plates, and of course, header's. It has a high heat and high melting point but it also dispurses heat more-so than stainless steal due to its no insulative properties. The Chrome plating as tends to pocket, or bubble under high impact/high stress situations. OVer all, the material is durable for headers because there is no impact or stress, only heat, which it can handle very well.
