I need the vast knowledge of all you out there. I installed an AEM CAI about 3 weeks ago. This past Friday I had an Alpine stereo installed professionally at a dealer. They completely pulled the Bose stereo out...speakers, wires, amp and all. And put new cables in it and speakers and amp and receiver. I did notice they put a power lead on the battery. And now my CAI kinda rattles. And my emmission check engine light stays on. It did not when I brought it in. I am taking it to the Acura service dept. on Tuesday to have diag run on it. My questions are 1. is my warranty void by the aftermarket equip? 2. has this happened to anybody else? 3. Am I a dumbass (yes) for doing this to a car I plan on keeping but currently leasing?

Thanks for any help and I am through modding it for now. Kinda scared to mess with it further. But I love my car!!!

 

Try to disconnect the battery for a minute or two. It will reset your ECU. If the light came back on after a couple of days, then have the dealer run a diagnostic check. If the light stays off, you just save a few bucks and a trip to the dealership.

My check engine light came on after I brought my car in for tinting.
Apparantly they disconnected the battery while installing the tint in case the power windows came down.

My buddywith an Accord V6 said just ignore it for a few days and it will go away... about 5 days later, he was right, it reset itself.

 

If you bring the car in for the 'check engine' light, play itoff like you did not click the gas cap in properly....
