Well I did it.......

I just put my deposit down on the new 2003 Nissan 350Z. I ordered the enthusiast package (xenon headlights, traction control, limited slip differential, cruise control, aluminum pedals, etc.) in a 6sp. The color is Silverstone. I also got the aluminum kick plates and splash guards. Total price $32,070 (that's including taxes and and a $995 "car care" package which I thought was bulls*@t.)Since I work at a Nissan dealership now (no flames please, the Acura dealership wouldn't hire me, f-ers) I get a $200 per month car allowance. I will end up paying around 350-450 per month for the car. I am pretty excited. The only problem is, they still havn't release the final HP figures or the delivery date. The dates they are giving are anytime between August and October. I am hopeing to get it by the end of August so I can take it on vacation.

So, what is everyone's opinion of the 350Z so far?

Ha! Get in line. Placed my order on 01/19/02. We have a VERY weird parallel going with our vehicle history...

1. We both had a PDG CL-S
2. You drive an '02 RSX base, I drive an '02 Civic EX - Two underpowered Hondas.
3. You ordered Silverstone, I ORDERED Silverstone except I got the Touring package w/six-speed.

CCNS!,

WOW, thats a way diff car from the CLS. Sounds real nice man!
I have driven the 300ZX Turbo and I still love the style of that car much like the 350. Its Unfortunate that the early years of the 280z did not perform as well as the RX-7s. I had many races with a guy that owned Z cars and that thing took way to long for that inline 6 to rev up. Oh the days of adjusting the sidedraft Webers and ordering from Mazdatrix.

We have to get together soon!! BTW what Nissan dealer?

CCNS,
Devon Hill Nissan is a real nice place
That is like right in my backyard!- My g/f's dad has been buying from them since 1990 and likes their service a lot.

Yeah, I will stop in there for sure to see ya. Just went out on Sat. and fired the M1 at a bunch of stapled on ketchup packs that our office seems to accumulate. Now that gets attention!!

I don't need anymore power than what this car is supposed to deliver. I am hearing rumors of 0-60 times in the 5.2-5.5 second range. Given that the 96 300zxTT did 0-60 in 5.5, I believe this car will be as fast if not faster. But I just wanted one because I need a sports car and there really isn't anything else out there will be able to compete with it for the price.

The "car care" package is a "package" the dealership is charging instead of a markup. Nissan has put a supposed limit on markup for the pre-order cars ($1000 is what I have heard). So my dealership charges $995 for the carcare package which is basically wheel locks, pin stripes (which I said if they put it on I will kick someones ass!!!), a "custom" wax job and some other stuff. Not really worth $995, but I would rather pay that then the ridiculous prices they will charge for the cars that are not pre-ordered. (I am hearing rumors in markups ranging from $3000-$7500).

At least I'm getting something........

Dang, I thought I read somewhere that there were plenty of 350Z to go around. I thought it even said there were still accepting orders as they all weren't filled yet. $7500!! Yikes

That's true, there are still plenty of pre-orders left because not many people want to plunk down a $1000 deposit on a car they have not seen or drove. If this were are Ferrari, it would be a different story, but since it's a Nissan.....

But, if the pre-orders are not filled, dealerships will just order the remaining cars then charge a markup on the vehicles. My advice, if you want the car, pre-order now because once people start seeing and driving the cars, you know what's gonna happen.
