check engine light

check engine light came on this morning . Took it to the dealer and he said it was code 87-2. They reset it and said it was a intermittent failure in the thermostat that made it go off, but there is no need to replace it . Is this shit right. I argued with him for a while, but figured there wasnt much point ?
what do you all think

I'd agree with the dealer until it happens again, then I would make noise.. I assume that your temp guage is reading OK?

you have to understand, if its an intermitant problem or everything checks ok, there is nothing more to do until it fails again

I do see that point , but I am more worried about it happening again when my warranty runs out . Oh well, I will drop it for now. If it happens again I will make them replace it . Thanks guys
