Chaining Motor Down

So I'm sick of this motor mount talk and I was talking to my mechanic and told him to go ahead and order some OEM motor Mounts and he said why, which I responded to there finished and I'm afraid the motors going to fall out, to which he replied why don't you just chain it down

here's my question, has any one done this ? if so where did you hook the chains?

Is there any issues with doing this besides it vibrating the car alot!

Never heard of it on a motor mount. But I have chained a-arms on lifted vehicles to keep them from over extending.

^ Some hydraulic guys use some chains for the suspension also.
Never heard of chaining down mounts either.
How old is that guy ?

Old school hot rod talk.

If you want to prolong the life of the mounts, pick up the Ingalls Stiffy. Also, poly fill the mounts. Im honestly amazed that you keep blowing through mounts when youre not really modded.

I did it in a 77 Datsun Pick up that I stufffed a 318 in. The only reason I did it was bacause the mounts I used were not very big, and the Mopar 318 I was using was a serious "stump puller" (aka Tons O TQ). I used a chain with almost no slack, just to keep the motor from twisting too much. I would not do it on the CLS though. Do lilke Civic said.

I can't imagine how bad it would be for your tranny at every shift if you were rigid mounted. Thats a lot of shock to absord. Your entire drivetrain will be stressed.
