Cat Converter

There's a rattle in my cat when I acceleration up to 3k rpm's. I have 110k miles on the car, is it time to replace it and if so is it covered under warranty? Thoughts??

It's likely just the cat heat shield is loose.

I took it to an exhaust shop and had it up on a lift and the shield looked secure, it sounded like it was in the cat itself.

Can you hear it in you cabbin? Or is it only when you pass by a wall and the sound gets reflected?

No cat? How's it sound? What about the other o2 sensor that's plugged into the cat?

Don't you have to modify it to make it fit and won't I lose torque? I'm not sure I want to go that route yet. If there were dyno proven results for hp and tq gains I'd be down but I don't think I could get use to the tq loss, maybe after I'm sc'd though

Guess there's something in the cat that broke loose then. I agree get the RT cat. It is basically a bolt on, the mount has to be moved. Any muffler shop can do this when they install it.
As for loss of TQ, Everything I've read says that it gains a few rather then loosing a few.

I'll definitely consider it, I'm going to get a before and after dyno because I want to see what my car is currently at anyway w/ all my mods and see what the official #'s are for the RT cat for a 6spd. I'm more concerned about it throwing a CEL as opposed to the torque loss since I have a lot of power adders anyway.

It's should be seemless. There's nothing that would trigger a CE.

I'm running a gutted cat and it sounds just a tad louder than stock and no codes.

Haha, yeah it smells like burning plastic. Kind of irritating when you're at a stop light. I also have excess exhaust smoke and don't know if it's from running gutted or another engine problem.
