Carbon Fiber Hood & C-Mod Grille
This is not a good combination (ask me how I know...). The CMod grille doesn't have enough structure to reinforce the glass framework on the CF hood at the hood latch. You can mount the grille but the combination is not rigid enough to activate the latch. And truthfully, it doesn't look very good. You can see the fiberglass framework through the mesh and its not terribly attractive. Back to the stock grille until I think of something else.
Oh well, there's a hundred bucks that I could have used for something else.. like enough martinis to get a good buzz on, for example.

This was just a note for others that may try to follow the same path.
I was trying to simplify the look of the front along with the new hood.
I actually like the look of the stock chrome ring on the grille and I think I'd like it even better without all the busyness going in the middle. So maybe the solution is mesh behind the ring and a carbon fiber emblem. The solution definitely does not involve removal of any structural elements of the grille.

The carbon fiber hood is not the issue. The grill is.
The grill does not fit the oem hood either. It is a piece of junk that they designed without a full car for proper measurements.
I know because I have the grill sitting in my storage. It needs a lot of work to fit properly.
I don't even know if I should sell it, because whoever buys it will be disappointed.
I would never buy anything from that crappy company again.
The company said they modified it to fit better but that was a lie.

Actually, the grille I got fits the CF hood better than the stock grille (probably as much to do with it being more flexible as anything). The grille is flimsy, for sure. But so is the CF hood in the area of grille support. The two together do not add up to enough stiffness to effective latch the hood with the oem latch.

Current Cmod grille only uses 4 small screws at the corners, none in the middle like the stock grille. And therein lies the problem - no structure in the center where the hood latch is.
